The Dead Dog in the well of the Church of Pakistan.

In recent times a dog fell in the well of the Church of Pakistan (which ought to be a well of living waters), died and the entire water started smelling. The caretakers of the well started adding various fragrances to hide the fact from the poor and illiterate villagers now the members of the Church of Pakistan. The make shift arrangement to conceal the dead dog failed miserably and the ‘Lords’ of the Church of Pakistan decided to arrange ‘consultants’ to suggest as to how the water could be purified.

The ‘consultants’ both foreign and local who sympathized with the ‘Lords’ tried hard to cover up the issue of the dead dog without embarrassing the ‘Lords’ and suggested various means including court cases, Episcopal elections in the Dioceses of Karachi and Hyderabad, holding of a Synod and lastly a reconciliation movement under their co-partners the National council of Churches in Pakistan.

None of the ‘consultants’ advised the ‘Lords’ of the Church of Pakistan to take the dead dog out of the well of the Church of Pakistan.

What is the dead dog?

1. The entire struggle to conceal the dead dog started in the year1994 when the constitution of the Church of Pakistan was ‘hacked’ at the election of the Bishop of Peshawar Diocese. It is on the record of the Synod of the church of Pakistan that there was criminal handling of the nomination papers and there is a resolution on the record whereby the Moderator was asked to put the matter to investigation. Which has not been done so far and the dead dog on this issue is still lying in the well.

The second part is even more painful. The then elected Bishop of Peshawar thus elected went abroad to work for an UK based organization. Since constitutionally no Diocese of the Church of Pakistan can remain vacant of a Bishop the question of his constitutional position arose and the gentleman resigned from the post of the Bishop of Karachi. Fresh elections were announced and to the surprise of many no elections were held.

The ‘Lords’ are not bothered.

2. Extra constitutional functions on the part of the former Moderator duly supported by his supporters are the worst part over the issue of the dead dog. The Moderator against all norms wanted to become the Bishop of Karachi. First he tried to get his episcopate to be translated from his Diocese to the Diocese of Karachi, having failed he created a group of his own in the Diocese of Karachi. After failing in the elections of 1st October 1997 he encouraged the loosing candidate Sadiq Daniel to take refuge in the courts on his behalf. With heavy investment by the then Moderator and on the basis of false affidavits and fabricated papers he was able to temporarily take the control of the Diocese of Karachi

By now the commoners had started noticing the dead dog so the ‘Lords’ of the Church of Pakistan decided to include foreign consultants. To facilitate this ‘General Council’ was formed in Peshawar in October 2000 to persuade the former Archbishop to help them out and traveled all over to the Lambeth Palace with a request to be adopted as an ‘Anglican Heritage’.

3. The role of the former Archbishop started when he agreed to bring all the Bishops of the Church of Pakistan to reconciliation before giving his recommendations to the Honorable High Court of Sindh over the issue of the Bishop of Karachi which by that time the High Court had started hearing over the perjury of the deponents including the former Moderator. The former Archbishop had even invited the Bishops of the Church of Pakistan for the same vide his letter dated 19th April 2001

The effortless delegation of the ‘Lords’ of COP the then ‘General Council’ again went all the way to the Lambeth Palace and succeeded in getting s fresh letter dated 18th April 2001 to the High Court of Sindh through which he asked the court to pass orders for a fresh election. Thus he tried to bail out the ‘Lords’ of the church of Pakistan leaving the dead dog in the well of the Church of Pakistan. Copies of these letters can be asked for.

4. While on the recommendation of the Archbishop the HIGH Court ordered to hold the fresh election of the Bishop of Karachi (ignoring legal issues) within a month according to the constitution and by-laws, the ‘Lords’ of the Church of Pakistan were smart enough to gather all the voters with out even reading the Judgment orders with in 24 hours. They were even able to raise the dead out of the graves to cast their votes and the angles were asked to cast the votes of those voters living abroad. The dead dog remained within the well.

5. The ‘Lords’ of the Church of Pakistan were yet on the move when they made Rafique Masih the Bishop of Hyderabad ignoring the resolutions of the Synod Executive and the Synod Church of Pakistan by way of which they had resolved and approved them selves that no candidate of the Bishop should be over 60 years of age. Even another dead dog was added in the well of the Church of Pakistan.

6. The most un-constitutional and illegal Synod of the Church of Pakistan was held by the ‘Lords’ of the Church of Pakistan to legalize the dead dog in the well of the Church of Pakistan. Now attempts are being made to ask the remaining and wise segments to help them cover up the dead dog in the well of the Church of Pakistan in the name of peace and reconciliation.

This time the front man is the close relative of the former Moderator.

Important to note are those properties sold by the ‘Lords’ of the Church of Pakistan in different areas and Dioceses. Most of this money has gone in the personal purses of the ‘Lords’ of the church of Pakistan. Therefore, the ‘Lords’ responsible for the sale of properties and drainage of Church money abroad have formed a ‘Church properties sellers Association’ to cover up the constitutional abuses.

Peace can only be accomplished though Justice at the hand of those at the helm of affairs. It should not be long when NAB or the High Court will start investigations in the affairs of the Church of Pakistan to take the dead dog out if the well of the Church of Pakistan.

The dead dog remains in the well of the Church of Pakistan.

My humble appeal and request to all concerned is to take the dead dog out of the well of the Church of Pakistan as taking out buckets of water while the dead dog is still in the well is of no use.

The only other way and the true way is the ‘Jesus way’- that is the way of repentance through which salvation can come in the household of the ‘Lords’ as it came to Zakaias. Please note that there is already a Status-quo on the Church of Pakistan in which most of the ‘lords’ of the Church of Pakistan are a party. The issues of selling church properties and constitutional abuses are the main issues, which are to be decided shortly.

All are invited to join this suit # 970/2002 in the High Court of Sindh at Karachi to get a detailed picture of most of the inside stories which shall be revealed there. Already a case is pending adjudication in the High court of Sindh bearing # 1163/2002 regarding the sale of ‘Saint Andrews Church’, Abdullah Haroon Road, Karachi.

Please note care fully that the status quo in Suit no 970/2002 also governs all the properties of the Church of Pakistan and restrains the relative persons from their sale or agreements through out Pakistan.

I wish and pray that a permanent peace is reached in the Church of Pakistan and suggest that the dead dog be taken out of the well of Church of Pakistan.
