Social stratification, likewise in other societies, is in our society as well a major issue. The class system of our society not only divides the individuals in terms of wealth but also in other rations of society and life.
The upper-class which is the wealthy one and has the power tends to hold the politics of the country and is able to govern those who don't have these assets. They exploit the working class generation after generation. They consider themselves superior to others. They lead the state according to their own wish. The middle-class who is often known as the working class strives hard for their living and the lower class which is neglected but is in majority provide their serves as labors, servants, plumbers, electricians etc.
Understanding origins of social stratification is difficult. It is present in our society as it was 100 years ago. Man has progressed a lot almost in every field except this field. The world today may seem a lot more advance but it has weaken the social structure. Infact, it has further increased due to materialism. People have become more desirous about materialistic stuff and when they don't get it by fair means, they start using the wrong paths like robbery, snatching, gambling, smuggling etc. it increases the rate of street crime. This class difference makes them greedier towards worldly goods. It develops complexes among the people of lower class and middle class, in all aspects of life.
Nowadays, even the education system has also affected by this class system. The people of upper class or elite class go for international system of education, which is Cambridge system whereas; the people who belong to middle class or upper-lower class have to go for local system of education because they are unable to afford the expenses of Cambridge system. The schools or other institutions which are affordable for the people of middle class and upper-lower class don't have those standards. In these schools teachers are not that much qualified as they should be because they are not paying them handsome amount of salaries and those who are qualified are giving their services to private institutions.
In assigning jobs, all the multi-national companies prefer the people who are from middle class and presentable. As the people belonging lower class don’t have sources due to which middle class get jobs easily as compare to the people of lower class.
The upper class lives a luxurious life where as the lower class suffers for bare necessities of life while the middle is hung between them.
The reason of this class system in our society is the inadequate system of zakat and mal-economic system. If the economic resources are utilized effectively for the benefit and welfare of citizens such issues would not be able to become a major problem of society. The only possible way to solve this problem is to rectify our zakat system and proper governing of economic resource.
