HYDERABAD – Oct. 24, 2006 – The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y.S. Rajshekar Reddy, graces the opening of a conference attended by Christian leaders from across India and around the globe. The conference, which runs from Oct. 24-28, 2006

Dr. Joseph D`Souza, President, All India Christian Council, and India Chairman, Transform World Conference, said, "Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajshekar Reddy is a very appropriate leader to inaugurate this global conference, called Transform World. He focuses on the majority peoples who have missed out on `India Shining`. The delegates and attendees have the same focus, but on a worldwide scale."The Transform World Conference brings together Christian global and Indian leaders in the fields of education, health, economic development, technology, environment, trade, spirituality, and other fields. Unique to the conference is the presence of leaders from the developing world like Latin America, Africa, and Asia. The conference will emphasize developmental work among the poor, the oppressed, the marginalized, children, and women. It will also deal with issues of global peace, religious tolerance and sensitivity, and the danger of religious fundamentalism. Over 700 attendees are expected. The conference will culminate in a public prayer rally on Saturday, October 28, 2006, with attendees invited from across Andhra Pradesh who will pray for peace, reconciliation, and harmony among communities. Organisers expect about 10,000 people from 3-8 p.m. at St. Mary`s High School grounds in Secunderabad. "The Chief Minister, the Hon`ble Dr. Y.S. Rajshekar Reddy is ideally suited to both inaugurate and address this conference because it is focused on the world`s marginalized, the poor, the children, the farmers, the women, and others in critical need who are being ignored by the forces of globalization. It is in line with the Chief Minister`s emphasis and focus on the farmers, the people of the rural areas, the children, women, and those Indians who are not participating in the `India Shining` propaganda of the last elections," said D`souza. The Chief Minister speaks at the inauguration of the conference on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. in Logos Bhavan, Jeedimetla Village. The prayer rally on Saturday is being co-hosted by the All India Christian Council and the Evangelical Fellowship of India.
