According to Christian Aid Missions (CAM), Indian Evangelical Team (IET) members Dulluraj and Narendre Jhadav traveled to the village to share the gospel. After the Nov. 21 movie showing, the two got on their borrowed bicycles for the return trip.

On the way, a gang of about a dozen people attacked them with stones, knocking both missionaries off their bikes. They then started mercilessly beating the two with big clubs, CAM said. Someone noticed the disturbance and called the police, who found both men unconscious, badly bruised and bleeding. They were taken to a hospital, where Dulluraj regained consciousness but could not move his body because of pain.

Narendre had multiple fractures and was listed in critical condition. The cost of medical services so far is the equivalent of eight month's pay for a common laborer. IET has some 60 workers in the region where the attack occurred. Meanwhile, radical Hindus have said they will distribute anti-Christian literature and plant a Hindu idol in all 300,000 tribal houses in the region, CAM reported.
