ISLAMABAD. (APP) The Federal Minister for Sports and Tourism Col.(Rtd.) SK Tressler has said that blasphemey law in Pakistan is not against the any minorties in Pakistan.

Talking to the agencey here saturday upon arrival after attending 57th human rights conference, he told that ageneral mis-impression was bieng propogated but in essence and form, the law is not discriminatory, no one has been awarded capital punishment under the blasphemey law, he added, it is a comprehensive law and no ammendment or repeal of the said law. Reffering to the minorties of the country, he said that minorties enjoy all fundamental rights and religious freedom and government is taking every step for the welfare of the minorties. He said that at the Conference, he informed a wide range of participants and audience about the welfare activities of the Government with regard to the development of minorities. Minorities in Pakistan enjoys much more religious freedom than some other countries of the region and the world. The federal Minister said that minorties were given due representation in the local dodies elections. Col. (Retd) SK Tressler said that he also attended the three day meeting of the International Multi Faith Peace Mission at Paris, which was attended by a large number of Pakistanis and laeders of other religous. The said meeting resolved to make efforts for greater harmony amongst man kind and to end friction on the basis of religion. He said that pakistan is already contributing to this effort and has taken lead by establishing Universal Faith Peace Mission Collage at Islambad. He said that courses for Arabic, Persian and other languages would soon commence at this collage.
