She said he was not adult so his conversion be declared illegal. The demonstration was led by Harchand the minority councilor of Union Council No.9 Hyderabad City. Boy's mother said they had given application to DPO Hyderabad who forwarded it to City police station but police did not listen them and she was not allowed to meet his son who, she alleged was kept in hostage by the shop keeper Akbar. Meanwhile the boy was brought by Akbar to civil court Hyderabad for statement where he stated before magistrate that he had converted to Islam with his own will and has accepted Islam out of his love for it at hands of Mufti Barkat Ahmed of Jamia Ahsanul Barkat Hyderabad. An affidavit was presented in the court on behalf of the boy which said he had changed his name to Shoaib Sheikh and was no more Kanhyalal. He was brought under police escort and left with them. The mother of boy who along with other women of their community had gone to court and tried to talk with their boy but were unable to do so.Rangbell his mother told that his son was caught hold by two police constables and she was not allowed to talk to him. Another woman Sewri a close relative to boy said that when she tried to talk to Kanhyalal constables dragged her away and in that attempt tore apart her shirt. They told that their minority leaders M.Parkash and Jagdish Kumar has contacted police for recovery of boy but police did not respond. The minority women said that they had contacted Saleem Khurshid Khokar former member of parliament and president of Sindh Chapter of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance but he had not reached Hyderabad. The mother alleged that her son was kept under hostage and demanded from authorities to allow her to meet him.
