Parvez Mash bail application denied like Ayub Mash. Except Imam the Testimony of Ordinary Muslim is ineffective in blasphemy Laws Division Bench of Lahore High Court.

The Lahore High Court has also denied bail application of Parvez Mash, filed by his family after rejection of bail plea by the session courts of Sialkot. Parvez Mash was arrested under section 295 C of Pakistan Penal Code, subject to death penalty, u

During the bail hearing at Lahore High Court, the Muslim groups demonstrated and gathered around the court room, chanting slogans ' Hang the Blasphemer ' to press upon the judges to reject his bail, according to the reports More than 200 Muslims poured into the courtroom of Justices Khalilur Rehman Ramday and Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday morning and no prominent christian religious, political and Ngo, s leader was present in the court vicinity in fear of danger to their lives from the fundamental Muslim religious groups. Like bail application hearings of Manzoor Mash in Same courts few years back there was no representative from any foreign mission present in court room during Parvez Mash bail hearings this time. Earlier the Mutan Bench of Lahore High Court have rejected the appeal of Ayub Mash against the death sentence by Session Courts of Sahiwal on the same charges of 295 C PPC under Blasphemy Laws. After the murder of Lahore Court Justice in the court room by the fundamental Muslim groups on granting bail to one of christian arrested under Blasphemy laws, the recent denial ob bail application can be viewed that Even High Courts are under pressure on Muslim groups and efforts to ensure justice are very difficult for 20 million Christians of Pakistan in general and under blasphemy laws in particular. Fifty Muslims present reportedly attended the bail hearing to testify on behalf of the defendant, Parvez Masih. One of them was Mohammed Yaqoob. When questioned by the court, Yaqoob admitted that he was not an Imam. Imams are Muslim religious leaders who often lead Islamic calls to prayer. The court remarked that it values the testimony of an Imam more than ordinary Muslims. Ruling that the testimony of Yaqoob was legally ineffective, the court then denied the bail. The family of Parvez Mash shall file an appeal against the decision of Division Bench on September 7, 2001.
