While world attention is focused elsewhere, minority ethnic groups in Burma have been struggling to survive--ever since World War II. This ongoing war is the longest continuous war in the history of Southeast Asia. But very few people in the West know . . . or, worse, care. The Karen received the Gospel from an American missionary. They sided with America during World War II. America and Great Briton promised them that after the war we would help them form their own country. Unfortunately for the Karen, they believed us. We left them to the mercy of an anti-American, anti-British, and anti-Christian regime. Christmas eve, 1948, the Burmese government rounded up hundreds of Karen men, women and children. They placed them in their churches and burned them alive, thus beginning a war that continues to this day. A forgotten war. A tragic war. A war that should never have happened. Last year alone, Christian Freedom International treated more than 120,000 men, women, and children with lifesaving medicine through our Backpack Medic operation and our jungle, Freedom Hospitals. Deep in the jungle war zones, people are cut off from outside help . . . that's why we make house-calls. Here is a lone CFI medic: Our Backpack medics risk life and limb as they hike through minefields and risk being shot if caught by the Burmese junta. But they are dedicated and glad to do it. They simply need our prayers and financial support for medicine. It costs about $50 to fill a Backpack with lifesaving medicine. This can last for a month, treating over 100 people. A gift of a few dollars can purchase a lot of essential medicine from our suppliers in Thailand. Please prayerfully consider an urgent gift for medicine today--especially during the "killing season." Someone's life will literally depend on this. I know there are many worthy causes and charities to support, but please remember Paul's admonition to the church in Galatia, "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who aree of the household of faith."Christians in Burma have no one else.
