ISLAMABAD: November 1. The Election Commission on Friday announced the names of ten minority candidates from among 45 men and women contestants. As expected, the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) was able to secure 4 seats followed by its closes

The PML-Q picked up two veteran parliament members M. P. Bhandara and Gyan Chand Singh as its representatives. Bhandara, who owns and runs the country's oldest brewery, Murree's Brewery, was first elected to parliament in 1985. Two Christian candidates--Akram Masih and Haroon C Qaiser--were also declared successful on PML-Q tickets. Qaiser is the son of former minority legislator Tariq C Qaiser, who was ruled out of the contest on the grounds that he wasn't a graduate. Mushtaq Victor of the PPP-P and Pervaiz Masih of the MMA were the other two Christians elected. Among the Hindus elected to parliament were Krishan Bheel, an advocate representing the PML-N, the MQM-nominated Dev Das, and Ramesh Lal of the PPP-P. Aasiya Nasir of the MMA was the only woman to be elected from among the minority candidates. She lives in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. In securing parliament seats for its candidates on Friday, the religious grouping MMA has achieved a unique 100 success rate, as it nominated only two candidates for the reserved seats and both of them were declared successful. Bribery allegations against political parties continued to surface on Friday, with several candidates claiming that priority lists from women and minority candidates were created with massive injection of cash. No party official was available for comment.
