Interdenominational gathering demands security of Iraqi Christians

Lahore: August 16, 2014. (Fr.Inayat Bernard) “We are disturbed by the forceful conversion and hunge migration of the Iraqi Christians and demand from the world community

to put their foot down to ensure the security of the Iraqi Christians”. The interdenominational gathering in front of the Lahore Press club demanded the security and justice of the Iraqi Christians. The leaders said that the Christians in Iraq are from the first century soon after the ascension of the Jesus Christ and the apostles Thomas and Thaddeus preached about the Lord in Iraq. Rev. Shahhid Meraj; the Dean of the Lahore Cathedral of the Church of Pakistan said that the Government of Pakistan should officially condemn the killing of Iraqi Christians and ensure the end of the cruelty on them He said that the international community has to wake up and let every human being live according to their beliefs. He further announced that tomorrow on August 17, 2014 prayers will be said for the Iraqi Christians, people of Palestine and Kashmir and those who are suffering in Pakistan especially Asia Bibi and Sawan Masih; the victims of Blasphemy Law. Fr. Inayat Bernard, rector of St. Mary’s Seminary Lahore thanked the Holy Father Pope Francis who showed his concern towards the Iraq Christians. He also thanked the Secretary General Ban Ki Moon of the UN to take an action against such elements. Prayers were said by Rev. Emmanuel Khokhar the vicar of Church of Pakistan diocese of Raiwind, Fr. Inayat Bernard, Col Washington Daniel of the Salvation Army. They prayed for the victims of Iraq, Palestine, Kashmir and Pakistan. Special prayers were said for justice in Pakistan and demanded the freedom of every person to profess their faith according to their religion.
