Pakistani Christian demand probe in all cases lodged under blasphemy

Karachi: September 9, 2012. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC has demanded reinvestigation in all cases lodged against Christians, Ahamaddiya and Muslims under charges of blasphemy after its legislation.

Nazir Bhatti said that after planting of evidence in Rimsha Masih blasphemy case have confirmed doubts that it has been widely misused to settle scores and business rivalries by one Muslim sect in Pakistan against minority’s communities. There have been more than two dozen victims of blasphemy law behind bars and waiting for trial while scores have been assassinated outside courts. “I will credit International media, Pakistan Ulma Council, Civil Society activists and Pakistani secret agencies in release of Rimsha Masih” said Nazir Bhatti Meanwhile, sources close to Pakistan Christian Post PCP in government of Pakistan has revealed that Inter-Services Intelligence ISI, intelligence Bureau of Pakistan IB and Military Intelligence MI agents played important role to investigate Rimsha Masih case. The agents of Pakistani agencies secretly recorded statement of dozens of Muslim residents of Mehrabad, a slum of Islamabad, where incident of Rimsha Masih happened, to reach to facts that Imam of mosque planted burnt pages of Quran in bag of Christian girl and then forced them to record statements. PCC Chief said that we have not forgotten Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five sentenced to death on blasphemy accusation who is in Seikhupura Jail waiting for appeal to be heard in Lahore High Court since 2010. “Pakistani Christians are dismayed on rejection of bail of Sajjad Masih charged on blasphemy accusation in Lahore High Court on September 7, 2012” said Nazir Bhatti The court in Islamabad on September 7, 2012, had ordered release of Rimsha Masih on bail on providing 2 personal surety bonds of 5 lacks each (10,00,000 Pakistani Rupees) which were presented by two local Christians on September 8, 2012, to set her freedom from prison. The Central Council of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC, in a meeting welcomed decision to grant bail to Christian disabled girl Rimsha Masih who was arrested on August 17, 2012, on burning of pages of Muslim’s holy book Quran in capital city Islamabad. Nazir Bhatti urged President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Parvez Ashraf to order re-investigation in all cases lodged against Christians and Ahmadiyyia and other in Pakistan under blasphemy laws that justice may be ensured and victim may be released from jails.
