Karachi: June 5, 2012. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC has expressed grave concerns on hatching conspiracy to kill prominent human right defender Asma Jahangir by the Pakistani establishment.

Nazir Bhatti said “killing of Human right activists and journalists in Pakistan who have been criticizing secret agencies always remained mysterious murders and culprits were never brought to justice weather commissions were formed to investigate which is very alarming” “It seems that plot to kill Asma Jahangir is very serious issue and Chief Justice of Pakistan Supreme Court shall take Suo-Motto notice and summon Director General ISI and Director General of Intelligence Bureau IB Pakistan to clarify their position” said Nazir Bhatti Asma Jahangir is former Chief of Human Right Commission of Pakistan, former President of Supreme Court of Pakistan Bar Association, representative in United Nations Human Rights Council UNHRC and a leading human right defender of Muslims, Christians, Hindus and other religious communities in Pakistan. Asma Jahangir surfaced on possible target list of Inter-Services Intelligence ISI and Intelligence Bureau IB when she openly criticized establishment on pleading case of former Pakistan Ambassador in USA Hussain Haqqani in Supreme Court of Pakistan on Memo-Scandal. The situation worsened when Asma Jahangir alleged ISI role in missing person case in Pakistan which totals more than two thousand who were picked up by secret agencies from their homes and were never produced before any court of law for years. Asma Jahangir also opposed military operation in Balochistan province of Pakistan and condemned extrajudicial murder of innocent Baloch activists who were picked up by ISI and FC but their bullet ridded bodies were found on streets. Nazir Bhatti feared that Pakistan Army and ISI are planning to derail democracy in Pakistan by killing leaders like Asma Jahangir and other to create unrest which is already mounting on power shortage and un-employment. PCC Chief urged President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani to provide equate security to Asma Jahangir that she may move in daily life as free Pakistani citizen. Nazir Bhatti warned that any harm to Asma Jahangir will bring security forces and public confrontation in Pakistan which will be serious threat to integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.
