Despite the acquittal earlier this month of three Christians charged with blasphemy, Christians continue to suffer severe penalties and persecution.

Christians Khalid Masih, 22, and Nasir Masih, 25. The two were arrested in Jacobabad after showing the JESUS Film and handing out a booklet called "Who Is Jesus?" The two are currently free on bail and waiting there Next court hearing. The literature distribution was put together by a team From Campus Crusade for Christ. The team handed out Christian literature in the streets and bazaars of Jacobabad on January 11 before going that evening to Railway Christian Colony to show the JESUS film to Christians there. Some Muslims were also in the Audience, watching the film. Later that evening, some Muslims took the film to there "Moulvis," Muslim religious leaders. The leaders Mobilized Muslims against the Christians, and forced Police and city officials to file a case against them. After that, a group of radical Muslims attacked the Local Baptist church and the home of Pastor Yousef Masih. The pastor wasn't home at the time, and his wife And one-year-old daughter were forced to hide under the Bed while the Muslims threw stones at the church gate And the windows of the pastor's house. The mob left After 30 minutes because the pastor was not there. Police officers have filed a First Investigation Report Under sections 108 and 151 of the Pakistani Penal Code Against eight Christians for "provoking public anger" And "unlawful assembly." The eight accused are: Pastor Yousef Masih Khalid Masih Nasir Masih Mushtaq Ghori Pastor Samuel Shahid Masih Pastor Benjamin Pastor Waris so hail Six of the Christians paid their bail before being taken to the jail, but Khalid Masih and Nasir Masih were arrested and beaten by the police at the urging of radical Muslims. They were then taken to the district Jail, where they were again beaten and tortured by the Jail's superintendent.
