J Salik Urged President to move resolution for Indian Muslims at UN.

Islamabad.7 March. (PR) J.Salik today called upon president Pervez Musharraf to present on behalf of Pakistan minorities an emergency resolution before the UN aimed at safeguarding rights of the minorities throughout the world.

J.Salik said the world peace might be jeopardy if the rights of minorities were not properly guaranteed in India and some other country. He said Pakistan is the only country in the world that came into existence to protect the rights of a minority. Hence it is its bounded duty to raise voice for the world minorities. J.Salik appealed to all nations of the world to declare seven day mourning over horrible atrocities being committed on minorities in India. Addressing a press conference J.Salik said, extremist Hindus has been perpetually perpetrating atrocities on minorities in India. The life, property and honor of the minorities are not safe in that country. Even places of worship were being attacked. The extend and mercilessness manifest in the current anti-Muslim riots in India have rent the hearts of peace and amity lovers all over. Violence against minorities have had been breaking out their earlier too. Almost every minority had been the victim. Their have had been protest and voices were raised to stop them. But temporary reactions served no purpose. On the other hand the momentum mounted with passage of time. The current wave is indeed a holocaust. J.Salik said the international community was by and large silent on such conflagration. Even if a voice rose here or there it was quieted on the pretext of interference in internal affairs of India. This is sheer injustice and outrage. The time has come that the issue be seriously considered and permanently solved otherwise the world peace would be at stake. He said according to World Minorities Alliance the sole solution lay in giving permanent representation to the minorities on the world at the United Nations. A change might be made in the charter to provide for such a seat. J.Salik said the UN charter is not sacrosanct as revealed by God. Even Heavenly revelations have had undergone transformation with the evolution of humanity. He said United Nations should not lose sight of the end of the preceding League of Nations. If the world body failed to take timely cognizance of sad state of affairs of the minorities in general and in India in particular the United Nations would meet the same fate as the League of Nations. J.Salik appealed to President Pervez Musharraf to direct Pakistan permanent representative at United Nations to present the necessary resolution safeguarding rights of the minorities in consultation with representative of other friendly countries. From today J.Salik drubbed his 'Peace Horn' in black to protest against unabated attack on Muslim minority in India by extremist Hindus. The peaceful protest starting Thursday is to coincide with SAARC Ministers' mood in Islamabad, which among others will be attended by Indian Information Minister. Painting 'Peace Horn' black was a manifestation bad with failure of government of a country claiming to be the biggest democracy of world and secular in character to control communal carnage the face of the entire humanity had become black, J.Salik said in a press statement. The blackened protest will continue for a week. Christian leader J.Salik is already in steel cage mounted on a heavy vehicle named 'Peace Horn' since November 16 last year to demonstrate solidarity with all those downtrodden people who are suffering atrocities anywhere in the world including Kashmir, Kosovo and Palestine.
