To The Editor Ref:- (i)- Being involved for democracy in NAME countries, the neglect of this Kashmir development by USA & Allies is baffling (ii)- Involvement of Saudi Arabia through religious sect in Kashmir will have deep repercussion also for NAME countries (and especially for Israel) (iii)- Delay in solving Kashmir problem by UN has given political space to religious groups in Kashmir. (iv)- USA & Allies should immediately mobilize UN to submit a report on this Kashmir development. (v)- USA & Allies will gain nothing unless Kashmir problem is solved within time limit. Dear Sir Now a leading national daily too of India in its editorial has written today that Government of India (GOI) is taking sides in favor of Barelvi sect in on-going Barelvi – Wahhabi strife in Kashmir. Media in general has been advising GOI to not work for Barelvi sect and against Wahhabi sect (which is being reportedly supported, including by funds, by Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries) as this sectarian policy may worsen the situation beyond control in J&K because this experiment has been tried before in Punjab and Sri Lanka - (where Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was helped to undercut the religious appeal of the Akalis and similarly with LTTE in Sri Lanka)– with disastrous results so much so that it ultimately claimed two Prime Ministers of India. But the deafening silence of USA & Allies on this matter is worrisome as given below:- (1)- There is no clear official position on such important matter by the Governments of USA & Allies though they should realize that the delay in solving the Kashmir problem (which is fundamentally secular in nature) through UN has given political space to religious groups in Kashmir. (2)- In either likely scenario (whether Barelvi looses or Wahabi looses or GOI looses and get bruised badly due to this alleged sectarian policy) the ultimate looser will be secular credential of democratic countries of the world. (3)- The USA & Allies who are already involved deeply, including militarily, in NAME Countries (with Muslim population) in bringing secular democratic order over there (in the interest of the security and safety of Israel too) by canvassing and working ultimately for secular democratic world order, can hardly afford to see India (the largest democracy of the world) to create a bad example of settling the political issue of Kashmir through communal flirting. (4)- USA & Allies should take one more factor in reckoning. Saudi Arabia is just not another Muslim country, but has Mecca & Medina on its soil and is the place of birth of Islam where millions of Muslims from world over go for pilgrims etc. every year. Therefore any involvement of Saudi Arabia in this strife through religious sect will have deep repercussions not only in Kashmir but it may lead to international organizational structure of Islamists under the control / influence of Saudi Arabia which will profoundly influence the political future of NAME countries and which will have serious implications for the security and safety of Israel (because today rulers of Saudi Arabia may be reliable friends of Israel but after ascendancy of such Islamist international organization what shape Saudi Arabia politics will take, is any body’s guess). (5)- Therefore USA & Allies should immediately mobilize UN (including its Security Council and Human Rights Commission) to submit a report on the following issues:- (i)- Whether serious strife between religious sects of Islam namely Barelvi – Wahhabi is going on in Kashmir which involves even Kashmir problem pending in UNSC or has repercussions on this Kashmir issue with UNSC? (ii)- What is the fundamental difference (of religio – socio –politico – economical issues) between these two sects of Barelvi – Wahhabi which they are trying to settle in this strife in Kashmir? (iii)- Is GOI taking side with one sect in this strife by helping or assisting it in constructing religious places (Mosques etc) and facilities for its favored sect or by discriminately helping it in its various activities especially with a view to give it advantage over other sect ? (iv)- If yes then why GOI is worried about support from Saudi Arabia etc to a sect which GOI oppose? (v)- What is the percentage of population supporting each sect of Barelvi – Wahhabi (and how the sect with minority supports deriving strength and power to sustain this strife)? (vi)- Is there any fall-out of this strife also in Pakistani side of Kashmir or in other parts of Pakistan (with Muslim population)? (vii)- What is the position and array of international community on this strife? (viii)- Which sect is generally supported by Human Rights NGOs operating in Kashmir? (ix)- Who are the prominent leaders from various religio – socio –politico – economical background from both sides of Kashmir who are supporting either of the Barelvi – Wahhabi sect so far in this strife? (x)- Has there been any rioting between Barelvi – Wahhabi and if yes then what has been the extent of damage of life (serious injuries) properties etc.? (xi)- Has any sect taken the help of any terrorist group (from India or from Pakistan or from any other country) in any way to get advantage over other sect in this strife? (xii)- Is Government of Pakistan also favoring some sect in this strife as GOI is allegedly doing? (6)- Having said all this, USA & Allies will gain nothing unless they seriously try to solve, with in time limit of say one year, the Kashmir problem (which minimum requires the unification of both sides of Kashmiri people).
