Even though Asha Bhonsle’s name appears in the short-listed twenty as India’s only representation, but absence of name of Lata Mangeshkar is naturally a big omission. I recall Amitabh Bachchan once introducing Lata Mangeshkar in a mammoth gathering with the unmatched parallel like Taj Mahal. Any survey to trace world’s greatest singer is meaningless without having Lata Mangeshkar included in the short-listed ones.
