Dear Sir, It has been noticed that these days many parents want to admit their children in English medium schools. Most of the time, the parents who have studied in vernacular medium school look for their children’s education in English medium schools and they usually expect their children to excel in their academic career. Sometimes the expectations of the parents are so high that the children cannot cope up with their parents’ high expectations. These have developed in many children the Learning Disability Syndrome and are often treated as “Slow learners”. These parents need to be counseled that education can also be procured through vernacular medium schools. The child needs to grow not just physically but also emotionally, socially and academically and many times forcing education on the child develops in them the Learning Disability Syndrome. These cases have increased in recent times and to a certain extent the parents are responsible. It is observed that if the child does not get admission in the “school of their choice”, the parents make a hue and cry, go to the education department officers and inspectors, political parties and their leaders and other official authorities who force schools and demand admissions. It is time that these people stop harassing schools for admission and understand the cases of these people suffering from Learning Disability Syndrome. I feel that this parents need counseling and that they should be advised to procure admission in schools where their children will get proper education and not Learning Disability Syndrome.
