Unite for sake of minorities and country

By : Nazia Tahir

Dear Editor, I had read that, after successful “All Parties Christian Conference to end Blasphemy law” in Rawalpindi on October 25, 2009, Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have decided to hold a seminar in Karachi to press for demand to repeal blasphemy law in January 2010. It is a good effort and we all as a true Pakistani are with you in your all steps towards this law. We know the last session called by religious ministry of government of Pakistan to draft amendment in blasphemy law on October 12, 2009, failed to reach on any conclusion and same was postponed for January 2010. PCC launched movement against blasphemy law when many organizations were silent due to fear of Muslims. The demand to repeal blasphemy law was presented by memorandums to government of Pakistan and other International forums, blasphemy law as final option to push away this law which is contradictory to basic fundamental rights guaranteed in constitution of Pakistan” The Christian victims of blasphemy-related violence who had their houses burned at the hands of thugs in July, 2009, are condemned to live in a graveyard in Korian, a village in the Pakistani province of Punjab, and are in a constant state of fear and uncertainty. They need full security and also full support or help not only from government of Pakistan also from people. Its a humble request from all of the readers that please do not create problems for minorities of our country because they are also a part of our country and they have full right to live in a proper way in just like others. PCC is in a very good process of discussion in blasphemy law. It is a request that it is a time to join and unite for the sake of minorities of our country. By, Nazia Tahir Karachi.
