Dr. Muhammad Nawaz did his PhD (International Law) from Ann Arbour Michigan USA in the mid 1950s and after being a Legal Counselor with various UN organizations is doing private consultancy with the World Bank Washington DC. Decades of Foreign Service and continuous stay abroad has not lessened in any way his concern, patriotism and the good wishes for Pakistan, as is evident from his ‘hurt’ in his letter below. In response to my recent letter ‘Devastation in Sindh’ Dr. Nawaz has posed a question in the last sentence of his letter, which is thrown open to all to reply: Dear Riaz, I purposely prevent myself from expressing any views on your highly thoughtful commentaries. However, over time, I have wondered that is Pakistan really a nation or just a collection of millions of individuals? I am, unfortunately, coming to think now that it is a mass of blind and deaf humanity. Sadly, the hapless demonstrating hoarders are incapable of even understanding that what value in terms of human dignity do their manipulators place upon them. The political leadership, devoid of any profound reflections, is blessed only with the quality of the use of its tongue. The rest, nothing is important, as most of them seem to be deprived of the faculty of profound reflection on any issue and finding constructive ways out of the crisis.
