Dear Mr. Bhatti, ARGUMENTUM AD HOMINEM is a term from the Latin language, and in the study of Logic and Philosophy it means criticizing or personally attacking an argument of proponent in order to discredit the argument. In simple English language it means that if a person is unable, incapable or not intelligent/scholarly enough to answer an argument, then him/her resorting to attack the person who is proposing the argument would be called ad hominem. Our Muslim friends are very good at the logical fallacy of “ad hominem” and this is exactly what Mr. Nisar has done by attacking the persons of Robert Morey, Ali Sina and Sam Shamoun. Mr. Nisar wrote that Zakir Naik is not running from anybody, but then failed to give any intelligent reasons for Zakir not to debate Sam Shamoun and Ali Sina. The challenge from Sam Shamoun to Zakir Naik is awaiting a response for a number of years at website answering-islam.org and adverts of this challenge were also published in the daily newspapers in Chicago, Illinois, about 5-6 years ago. Whereas the challenge from Mr. Ali Sina (a former Muslim) has also been long awaiting response at the website .faithfreedom.org In May 2005, Zakir Naik agreed to Debate Dr. Samuel Green in Sydney, Australia, on the following topics: 1. The Bible of the Quran - which is the word of God? 2. Salvation in Christianity and Islam Dr. Naik again cowardly declined at the eleventh hour, when he was informed by the Australian Muslims that there is no way that he is going to win from Dr. Green. I find comments of Mr. Nisar about Dr. Robert Morey very interesting and amusing, as he writes that Shabbir Ally defeated Dr. Morey. If that is what Mr. Nisar believes, then I have a very simple question for him. If Shabbir really defeated Dr. Morey, then why it is that Shabbir is not selling the video/dvd of that debate on his website to prove his triumph, as he is selling many other debate videos. Moreover why it is that Dr. Morey has been selling the video of that particular debate for many years on his website. I have personally seen the debate, and can testify that Shabbir Ally learned some valuable lessons during that debate about the use of logic and the art of debating. Dr. Morey absolutely thrashed him, reducing him to defend the colour of private parts. If anyone is interested to get a video copy of that debate, then please get in touch through this website, and you will see for yourself that what sort of victory Shabbir had won in that debate with Dr. Morey. I am quite disappointed with comments of Mr. Nisar about Sam Shamoun, which also probably reflect the reasons that why Brother Sam Samoun is allegedly declining to debate him. He writes that Sam used to be an Eastern Christian, and then he became a protestant... Obviously Mr. Nisar seems to believe that Eastern Christians cannot protestant, which simply shows that the level of his knowledge about Christians and Christianity. No wonder Sam does not want to debate him, as being a prominent Christian apologist he does not have the time to debate every Tom, Dick & Harry who challenges him. If Mr. Nisar wants to debate Sam, then I would advise him to do some serious study on Islam and Christianity first, so that he is at least aware of the very basic issues i.e. whether Eastern Christians can also be protestants or not? I have no doubt about the ability of Bishop Timotheus Nasir to debate any Muslim including Zakir Naik. Nonetheless the question is that does the current religious climate of Pakistan allow such an inter-religious public debate, especially when Muslims are going through a tantrum of religious frenzy after Knighthood Award to Salman Rushdie by the British Government??? I believe that Mr. Nisar is also aware of this ground reality, and knows full well that there is no chance of arranging such a debate in Pakistan or India. Mr. Nisar proposal to Bishop Nasir for debating Zakir Naik is nothing more than a desperate effort for avoiding the real issue of Zakir Naik running from a public debate with any of these gentlemen. If Mr. Nisar has any leverage whatsoever on Zakir Naik, then I would urge him to persuade Dr. Naik for a public debate with either Sam Shamoun, Dr. Robert Morey, Dr. William Lane Craig, Dr. Samuel Green or Jay Smith, as hiding behind such non-pragmatic debate challenges is not going to work anymore.
