R. Michael invites attention of Bishop Nasir

By : michael

Dear Sir First of all, I appreciate your reply and that you are, as a Bishop, taking time to answer my questions. Rests of my comments please have it under yours. Kind Regards R. MICHAEL Dear Mr. R. Michael, Greetings from Pakistan. I read your letter to the editor with great interest. You have asked a number of questions to the Pakistani Christian Ministers, higher Priests and Bishops of Pakistan in one particular case of “Cheena Bibi. Let me tell you ladies and gentlemen, the things in Pakistan have changed ever since you left Pakistan. Yet we try to do our job to the best of our ability. Cheena Bibi or any one who suffers at the hands of Muslim majority are not left alone. The local Pastor tries to do what he can in his personal capacity. He even goes to the Police authorities. The Bishops take up the matter even with the President of Pakistan. When we are in middle of our efforts, some NGO or Human Right Group jumps into the matters and for their vested interests, make it an international issue and collect money that is hardly ever reaches the victim. On 25th December 2002, a number of Christian children, men and women were killed and injured in terrorist attach of a church. No Human Right Group, NGO or Personal ministry people came to the hospital here in Gujranwala. They ran to the Church in Chianwali District Sialkot, to photograph the blood of Christian men women and children. These photographs and videos were made to with sole purpose to export the Christian blood on the walls of the church. It is strange, while the church leadership was arranging blood and providing medical care to the victims, the so called “Social Organizations” were “Cashing” the Christian blood. Few months latter one of the victims met me and told me that “Human Rights Organizations” and the NGOs have forsaken them. Which prompted me to write an article in Urdu, “Christian Blood on Sale”. Let me also remind our Christian brothers and sisters that a ship load of relief goods for people of Shanti Nagar was sold in open sea for twenty million Rupees by the NGOs in March 1997. I am aware of NGOs, some of them pack up their bags and settle with their family in Europe, I personally request you to provide me the name of their organization, I will try my best to change that situation, if they operate from Europe or American Continent. About pastors I admit several local pastors are helping and doing their best to support these victims but as a Bishop did you contact them and do the necessary or help the local pastors to make the process faster as you have more authority than them? I also, like to know how come these days Pakistani Pastors are growing so fast, who ever read bible in URDU is presenting himself Pastor, is there is any proper college/university where they can graduate their pastoral and serve the Christian community as a priest not as politician, who just look after their on family and their pockets. Here I am not going to mention any example as I am sure you’re aware of. The Bishops and Pastors are not trained to give legal aid to the victims of religious discrimination and persecution. We get a Theological Degree and not a Law degree. Even then we do our best to provide legal aid to all the victims. Yet what can we do when the victims are trapped by the “Social and Welfare” people. We can provide them legal aid but we are unable to provide them Justice that they deserve. We must not forget that Bishop John Joseph was killed in May 2007 trying to provide legal aid and justice to Yousaf Masih. The “Bishops” of Pakistan are targeted by all our brothers and sisters, (here I am not talking of Bishops of Brief Case churches) yet they remain silent. I my self have helped a lot of people yet I can not speak how did I help and saved a number of Christians from the wrath of Muslims in Pakistan. The Roman Catholic Bishops, the Bishops of Church of Pakistan and the leadership of Presbyterian Church of Pakistan are not that ignorant as it is depicted by you Sir. We have our own way of working and we work silently but reap good results. We use or church resources, personal resources and help our people through proper channel. I understand the situation in Pakistan but I still think that Bishops, with the help of our community Minister, can do lot to build up secure places to protect people in need, rather they fight each other for their own interest. Here I ask a question to all our Christian brothers and sister living abroad, do you care for poor Pakistani Christians like Cheena Bibi? Every time some thing happened, only Christian Clergy is blamed for so called ignorance for the victim, why no asks the “Elite” class in Pakistan, the Doctors, Lawyers, and other senior Christian military officers. I know a number of Medical Doctors in United States, high profile people and “High ups” in United States, Canada and Europe and even in Pakistan. Why every one forgets that they too have some responsibility towards their Christian Pakistani brothers and sisters. I read there are 150 Million Pakistanis in American Continent and Europe. Why can’t they help only 2 million Christians in Pakistan. (This is the latest figures provided to me by the government of Pakistan very recently) 150 Million Pakistanis in American Continent and in Europe, most of them are muslims why should they help poor Christian fellows and Christians which are abroad are, for most part of them not in position to help or they know the nature of Christian priest or Ministers as they are also coming from there. Dear Mr. R. Michael, in all honest and in good will, I invite you to Pakistan. Please come and see for yourself what is happening in Pakistan. We have some hope as long as General Musharraf is at the helm of affairs in Pakistan. We have no idea what will happen to Christians after he is gone. Sir I wish you or any other critic of Christian Clergy had ever helped or thought of helping your poor brothers and sisters in Pakistan. You have passed on the baby to the Christian Ministers, Higher Priests and Bishops and now you can rest for a long period of time. You have done your duty by passing on the problems on us. I appreciate your concern for “Helpless” Christians, yet I would request the readers to show some concern for the Pakistani Christian Ministers, the Higher Priests and the Bishops who prefer to stay in Pakistan for common poor Christian. I would like to let you know I am regularly visiting Pakistan and very aware of the real situation in the Christian community and churches in Pakistan and I can assure you that alone I have tried two times to do something for my community and the only preoccupation was “How are we going to make more money with this” instead of “how could we help our Christian sisters & brothers in Pakistan”. So I know what I am talking about. But still can do a lot for our Christian community if I find an honest Bishop or Minister who can handle building up our young generation with good education back ground. About President I can only say God bless him; He is a great leader and a great President. I am personally looking forward to hear from you & will be happy to help Christian community as much as possible. Kind Regards Robin MICHAEL Prayerfully Yours, Bishop Timotheus Nasir
