It is full of selectively quoted and misinterpreted US history, He does not even mention that in the US Constitution, there is a requirement that forbids any type of religious test to hold office. And, he is fond of referring to the "Judeo-Christian" tradition but fails to notice that there have been many other traditions that have been included in our national traditions as well. Many of our founding fathers were not even Christians or Jews. We have had a wide Variety of cultural influences included in our relatively short national history. We have even had Muslim influences since the first slaves were brought over from Africa. The Pilgrims were not the first colonists either they, were merely the first colony to survive or they were not what we would like to call Christians today. They fled to America because European Christians considered them heretical and did indeed persecute them. They were an ill prepared and cheerless group. If it had not been for the help of the Native Americans they would have all died the first winter. As it was, their mortality was very high. In reality, it was not a very auspicious beginning. To quote Judge Moore "In 1789, George Washington, our first president under the Constitution, took his oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help me God." " This is a lie by omission. The oath of office is "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." George Washington added the "So help me God." on his own, as was his right. But, it was hardly required and today no one swears their oath on a book of any kind, they swear to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” The pictures of them holding Bibles and Torahs are photo-ops afterwards. His article contains errors in logic, fallacies, disconnected facts and a host of various errors that should put any thinking individual to shame. He even claims, that Muslims worship a different God than Christians, This statement is laughable. Islam contends that Mohammed was the last Prophet after Jesus. Whether you accept the validity of Islam or not. It is the same God by definition. Yet, Judge Moore ignores the obvious to prosecute his own ignorant, narrow-minded self-justification. He finishes by connecting ALL Muslims to terrorism, which, is just plain crazy talk and makes as much sense as blaming the Oklahoma City bombing on all Christians because Timothy Mcveigh was Catholic. This article belongs on no web site, which, hopes to claim any amount of respectability and claims to represent a Christian voice. It lacks any vestige of honesty and truth.
