Rev. Bernard Malik: Congratulations for the work you and the members of your executive are doing to represent Christians of India settled everywhere. You are doing your best to free them from the clutches of undeserving injustice. FIACONA is becoming a strong oak now. A few weeks ago, I received a discouraging letter from your office, asking the members if they would like to dismantle FIACONA. It is like destroying the tree of oak when it is in a position to give protection to needy. We are living in a global village in which awareness is the key to success. FIACONA is doing that important work of awareness. The secret of the strategy to stop the persecutions of Christians lies in the cave of one word and that word is lobbying and lobbying is the art of communicating the concerns of an interested group to decision makers. In other words, lobbying refers to the activities of special interest groups who meet parliamentarians regularly to influence them through propaganda and other means to shape the policies of government. These representatives develop public relations techniques and community projects to create awareness and to influence legislators. Legislators are not mind readers. Electorates have to inform them about their concerns. The lobbyists, called also pressure groups, testify before committees and persuade individual legislators to take a particular action. Parliamentarians can be persuaded to keep human rights issues in mind while completing their business deals and granting loans. Solution to the problem of the persecution of Christians in India, Pakistan and elsewhere is lobbying to fight peacefully against the tiger of the violations of human rights. Lobbying, lobbying, lobbying and still more lobbying in the West is the way to stop persecution of Christians. It is vital to awake democracies and the humane souls everywhere through lobbying in every possible way to create a climate of awareness. It is encouraging that as a vibrant head of a vibrant organization you are doing that work. Congratulations. Stephen Gill
