Dear Sandy Sneddon, Greetings from the Anglican Church in Basel, Switzerland. I am writing you on the subject of your recent email focusing the Church of Pakistan disputes, which you wrote on behalf of CPMPF. I have been a member of the Church of Pakistan Youth and these days I am living in Basel, Switzerland for my studies. Reading your email, it seems that you are really upset because of the recent publications by the CoP News Service. As a member of the Church of Pakistan living outside Pakistan I would like to express my concern to the Partners of the Church of Pakistan, through you. Since last three years I am living in Switzerland throughout which I have been a member of the Anglican Church in Basel, St. Johanns – Ring, and on the mailing list of the CoP News service. I feel as if I am still living in Pakistan and a part of my mother Church. The publication by the CoP News Service might have offended you or the Bishops of the Church of Pakistan but for common members of the Church of Pakistan CoP News is doing a great job of bringing awakening about the misconduct of the Church leaders in Pakistan. Earlier this year CoP News Service published news that the High Court at Karachi has restrained the Synod of Bishop John Malik while doing so at the same time the High Court granted stay order against the sale of all the properties of the Church of Pakistan. I was the member of Lahore Diocese in Pakistan, it was big news for me and before sharing this news with other youth members of St. Johanns at Basel I wanted to reconfirm this news for which I wrote to the CoP News Service, asking them to send me some documents regarding the Court’s order. After a week I received all the relevant papers, duly certified from the High Court of Sindh through mail. As a result to me it does not matter whether the CoP News Service is an official news service of the Church of Pakistan or not, as far as they are doing their job with documentary evidences, certification and testimonials. In my opinion your perception and proclamation that these emails are coming from one particular group within the Church of Pakistan shows that instead of addressing the issues you want it to shut down so that nobody knows what is actually happening in the Church of Pakistan. What I have understand from your emails is that the Partners consider Bishops of the Church of Pakistan as one group and the members as the other one. In my opinion the recent reconciliation without the settlement of the issues raised by the members is a failure as it is artificial and only to facilitate each other. It also seems that the Partners using financial aids/supports as a weapon have pushed this on the weaker Bishops. I am convinced that no reconciliation can be reached without the settlement of the vital issues raised by the Reformers about the sale of Church properties and illegal and unjustified withdrawals of huge amounts from the Church accounts. Also consider the settled principal of the civilized world that arbitrary replacement of constitutions by Bishop Malik is a crime of serious nature. Persons like you coming from an educated society cannot justify it with out giving logical answers and proof. If the CoP News people are wrongly putting blames on your recognized Bishops, you must defend them logically otherwise make your Bishops understand that they are playing with the people’s assets and they are answerable to them. Since your support is without actual knowledge and against the Christian sprit of truth, you better repent in your own place and make your Bishops do the same. In my opinion the CPMPF should go for the settlement of the issues instead of targeting CoP News Service. The members of the Church of Pakistan all over the world are praying day night for the restoration of the Church and recent move of saving Church properties from sale in the Church of Pakistan is appreciated all over the world and the members of the Church of Pakistan are looking forward for the accountability of the Bishops. The CoP News is bridging the gap between the members of the worldwide Church and the members of the Church of Pakistan and instead of aiming them; they should be asked for the certification of their publications instead of restraining them from bringing awareness.
