Mr. Sandy Sneddon, On behalf of CPMPF. Dear brother Sandy, I feel it is my duty to reply to your email dated 23rd December 2003 regarding the recent deal of facilitation to cover up their embezzlements, amongst the Bishops of the Church of Pakistan vides which the Bishops have agreed upon to give permission to each other for the sale the Church properties lying in their Dioceses. As a member of Karachi Diocese I would like to inform you that the person representing the Karachi Diocese in the facilitation agreement is not the representative of the members of the Karachi Diocese. The post held by Rev. Sadiq Daniel is disputed and an order of the Civil Court of Karachi is that he cannot exercise any power as Bishop of Karachi. In this regard earlier I wrote to the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury to which they have responded vide their letter dated 11 October 2004. For your information and record I am reproducing my letter to his Grace, so that you and the CPMPF may note the real facts. The Most Revd Dr. Rowan Douglas Williams Archbishop of Canterbury Lambeth Palace, London, SE1 7JU, England Honorable Sir, I am a pastor, working with the Diocese of Karachi, Church of Pakistan as the Presbyter In-charge of St. Thomas Church, Diocese of Karachi, Church of Pakistan. The seat of the Bishop of Karachi, Church of Pakistan is disputed and pending decision before the Honorable Court of Law. Several cases are pending adjudication before the Honorable High Court of Sindh at Karachi and Honorable Civil Courts in this regard, and no finality has reached so far. In the meantime Rev. Sadiq Daniel who illegally and unconstitutionally poses to be a Bishop of Karachi Diocese is pressurizing the Pastors of the Karachi Diocese to accept him as the legal Bishop of Karachi Diocese. The majority members of the Diocese of Karachi do not accept him as their bishop and condemns his illegal and unconstitutional claim. In early January and February 2004 Rev. Sadiq Daniel posing falsely as the Bishop of Karachi tried to transfer, suspend and terminate my services. He used Police force through misrepresented facts and got me behind the bars in order to take physical possession of St. Thomas Church, Azam Basti, Karachi. I was released through a large demonstration held by my parish members and the public of this area. This was an evil and mischievous practice not worthy of any Christian, what to speak about a Pastor or even a so-called bishop. At the same time, he went to the Court through his illegally appointed Secretary, (Mr. Shahzer Shamoun, who himself is a disputed Secretary of the Karachi Diocese) on behalf of the Diocese of Karachi in order to obtain court orders against me and validate his position as Bishop of Karachi further justifying the authority and control of the Diocese. He failed miserably in his evil attempt and the orders on the interim application were clear and speaking that he could not take such actions in the present situation. My fellow Pastors namely Rev. Sardar Masih, Rev. Naimat Nirdosh, Rev. Asif Ahmed and others were also physically attacked by him and were asked to accept him as their Bishop or they will have to face ominous consequences. The Honorable Civil Court has been pleased to turndown the claims of Rev. Sadiq Daniel and his agents/representatives on the basis of rigging of elections by Rev. Sadiq Daniel through which he claims to be a bishop. While passing the orders dated 25th February 2004 in Suit no. 150 of 2004 the Honorable Court also observed that whilst litigation is pending in the apex Courts where no finality has been reached the claims of Rev. Sadiq Daniel or his agents/ representatives can not be validated. Even if the Anglican Communion and the Church of England recognize him as the Bishop of Karachi Diocese the majority members of the Karachi Diocese as well as those of the Church of Pakistan do not accept him as a bishop because of his involvement in the sale of properties, financial embezzlement in the accounts of the Karachi Diocese, Church of Pakistan (so far he has spent more then 25 million rupees from the accounts of Karachi Diocese on his personal litigation), political affiliations and activities and embezzlement in the finances of the YMCA Karachi (from where he was expelled and joined the Church of Pakistan as a Pastor). Although his recognition and acceptance as a Bishop of Karachi by the Church of England and Anglican Communion does not validate his claim in any manner at all, he always try to portray that the Church of England and the Anglican communion recognize him as a Bishop thus he is a legal and legitimate Bishop of Karachi Diocese. You honor is requested to lead Rev. Sadiq Daniel and his godfather bishop Malik to act prayerfully, constitutionally, in the fear of the Lord and in the light of the prevailing legal situation. Yours truly, Revd Naseem Manasee Dear brother, enough has been written to the western world and the partners but till-to-date the Partners of the Church of Pakistan have not been able to correct or educate the Bishops of the Church of Pakistan. The core issue of the reconciliation between the bishops of the Church of Pakistan is the sale of Church properties by the Lahore Diocesan Trust Association, Executive Board of Methodist Church in Pakistan and the Church of Scotland through their attorneys. The dispute between the Bishop of Lahore and Bishop of Faisalabad arose when Bishop Malik refused to give special power of attorney to the Bishop of Faisalabad for which he requested through his letter dated 11th April 1997, for the reason that he wanted to sell a piece of a valuable properties at Faisalabad. On refusal from the disputed management of the LDTA the Bishop of Faisalabad moved to the Court of Law and during adjudication when Bishop of Lahore felt that his illegal activities are coming to surface he first contacted Bishop of Sialkot through Bishop of Raiwind and assured him that he will make way for him to sell St. Andrews Church at Karachi through Rev. Sadiq Daniel, upon which along with the Partners Bishop of Sialkot started pressurizing the Bishops of Multan and Faisalabad to withdraw case against LDTA and join the disputed Synod of Bishop of Lahore, assuring them that their interest will be considered and supported. Thus this reconciliation agreement was signed amongst the Bishops so that instead of wasting time in Court cases and talking about the issues all should earn their shares of money. During the last several years it has been noted that Partners want to push the whole Church of Pakistan under the monopoly of the Bishop of Lahore and his group, whose corruption is even well-noted and opposed by the Courts of Law, Government of Pakistan and the members of the Church of Pakistan, throughout Pakistan. Documentary proofs have been quoted and produced over and over again to make the Partners realize that they are supporting the wrong fraction of the Church of Pakistan. Even then, if the Partners are unable to understand the core issues of the Church of Pakistan in the presence of the order of the High Court, Lahore dated 10th December 2004 for the cancellation of the sales carried out by the disputed management of the LDTA, the Partners should leave Church of Pakistan on its own instead of opposing the wider membership to support the corrupt leadership of the Church of Pakistan in their deals of minting money through Church resources. May the lord bless you and guide you to seek and support the truth. Yours in His service, REV. NASEEM MANASEE Presbyter In-Charge St. Thomas Church Azam Basti, Karachi
