Upcoming crises / Church of Pakistan... By Alexander Mumtaz

By :

Dear Brothers and Sister (Concerned for the unity of the CoP), I am also a member of the Church of Pakistan and like you people I am also concerned for the unity and safeguard of the Church of Pakistan. With the help of the electronic communication now it has become easier for all of us to work together for the greater interest of our community and for the safeguard and unity of the Church of Pakistan. Day by day more and more people are joining in this correspondence and I trust my Lord that He never designed or desired these quarrels in the Church and on His time He will mend it for the glory of His Mission. At the same time I would like to bring before all of you a moral as well as an ethical misdeed, which possibly will lead to further crisis in the Church of Pakistan and before it’s too late, to save the Church and specially the Raiwind Diocese from further calamity we must get together for the safeguard and purification of the Church. One of the Bishops of the Church of Pakistan is the Rt. Rev. Samuel R. Azraiah, Bishop of Raiwind (who is famous by the name of Bishop Gone) is considered to be responsible for the crisis in the Church of Pakistan by unconstitutionally overstaying in the office of the Moderator of the Church of Pakistan and specially his interest in the episcopacy of Karachi Diocese have brought the Church of Pakistan at the brick of splitting. Members of Raiwind Diocese as well as the majority of the members of the Church of Pakistan are well aware that Bishop Gone has applied for the American nationality and to fulfill the requirements en route of obtaining American passport he reside at States, 9 months a year. Whereas the Synod, Church of Pakistan resolved that no bishop can stay away from his Diocese for more than 6 months. Now the question is: Whom is he cheating? · American Government / Immigration · The Church of Pakistan · The members of the Raiwind Diocese Whatever the case may be but the issue is that whether is it justifiable? The majority of the members of the his Diocese are living their lives below the poverty line and frittering the resources belonging to the poor people of his Diocese, Bishop Gone has purchased a lavish mansion at the Eagle Rock, California, USA. Recently, Mr. Anwar from Karachi has filed a case in the Court of the Synod against Bishop Gone, purely on basis of ethical and moral grounds. Resolution of these complaints against Bishop Gone, within the Church is a healthier suggestion for the betterment of the Church of Pakistan but our ignorance may lead our Church to another battle at the Court of Law outside the Church, which will definitely further weaken the Church of Pakistan. Please keep these issues in your prayers so that the Lord may save the Church from further division. Yours truthfully, Alexander Mumtaz
