As expected Bishop Dr. Alexander John Malik did not turn up at the reconciliatory meeting of the Bishops arranged by the NCCP on the 8th of June 2004. Over the years he has refined himself in the political game of the Church of Pakistan. It is authentically reported that he met Bishop John Samuel at the dinner hosted by Dr. Maria in the honor of Haggai Institute's dignitaries at Avari, Lahore a few days before the Bishops meeting. It is believed that Bishop Malik tried in vain to persuade Bishop John Samuel to withdraw the Civil Suit from the Court regarding the unconstitutional position of LDTA on the basis of illegal amendments made by him in the constitution of this body to take total control of the LDTA properties all over Pakistan. Bow it is widely understood that Bishop Malik made a good fortune out of the sale of various properties within his own Diocese and all over Pakistan. The issue of the sale of "Julius Garage" at Quetta gained a lot of publicity as Sadiq Daniel and other responsible figures of Karachi Diocese of that time also shared the booty for the sake of keeping their mouths shut. As is understood Bishop Malik's agenda to begin with was to take the Church back to a place where he could claim that it is the Anglican Church and he is the sole head of it. He had even persuaded the former Archbishop of Canterbury through his wits and some innocent members of his Diocese and the Church of Pakistan. It was in the spirit of this plan that he tried hard and placed Sadiq Daniel as the Bishop of Karachi and Rafiq Masih as the Bishop of Hyderabad. He knew that they will always support him because of their constitutional weaknesses. Unfortunately the whole game plan failed as he faced tough resistance in the Courts of Law and on ground. The lust for money during the last days of his episcopacy has grown to the extent that he is still trying very hard to save his game even at the expense of his reputation. He has seen easy money coming from the sale of properties and the Cathedral School System (LDBE). It is learnt that he has become so touchy these days that he starts fighting with the Clergy of his own Diocese whenever somebody raises a question on any of these issues. In the present situation he will first try to reach a settlement with the Bishops to safeguard his own interests. Although Bishop Samuel Pervaiz who has also taken huge amounts from the deal of Saint Andrews Church, Karachi has joined him and Sadiq Daniel for his own protection will not be able to accomplish much through this union. Bishop Malik's letter of 13th June 1999 to Mr. Richard Sewell of London is on record whereby he refers to an order of the Court in regards of a stay order against the election of the Bishop of Hyderabad. An e-mail of Mr. John Hayward to all the Bishops of the COP, Partners and others dated Mon, 9 Dec 2002 under the subject heading UNITING COP is worth reading again whereby he comments about his frustrations over the functioning of the LDTA, the role of the Partners and the united Synod of 2000. Mr. John Hayward had a personal experience rather encounter with the management of the LDTA and Bishop of Lahore. He was also a voter in the election of the Bishop of Hyderabad in 1997 and even wrote the minutes of the first election with his own hands. It is in this back of the events that the almighty lord Bishop Malik will have to choose that he should honor the decisions of the Courts whenever they come regarding the life of the Church or should he elect the Christian way to allow justice to rule for the sake of peace. With Kind Regards Julius Danish
