Dear Dr. Nazir Bhatti Many times I have gone through your pages of Pakistan Christian Post and always appreciated your commendable job for the Pakistani Christian Community living in miseries, however your recent editorial burned me up and I just wondered why have you pushed yourself to such a low level? You must be feeling proud by comparing Shehbaz Bhatti with J. Salik and don't know what you want to prove by spreading dirt on their faces, which is not a respectful thing coming from a literate person like you. It reminds me the story people always tell in the Christian gatherings. The story of the horrible scenario of hell goes like this, which you must have heard it before. When God made hell he designed it separate pit for every different religion or faith, and every pit had a small hole big enough to throw in one person at a time and every opening was covered with a steel lid on it so that no one can come out from there. The only pit left uncovered was of Christians. When question was raised that why this is not sealed. God answered that you actually don't need a cover here because if any one tries to climb up, there is always another one ready to pull him down and even there is no need of any security. It was not expected from a person like you when there are many recent incident and lot of other issues needs to be addressed and can be solved only by joining each other, not by tearing apart. Much of your allegations are nothing new and almost every leader has to face this music. I don't find anything wrong with meeting people in five star hotels or you expect them to sit in a small "dhabba" like place to talk about the fate of 15 million Christians. Shahbaz Bhatti may not be politically correct and could be mysterious character for you alone, but not for Pakistani Christians. How can you talk on behalf of Pakistani Christians, when you are not a part of their daily life of fear and frustration? At least he is still there facing troubles and sharing sorrows. I was not aware of this that a person has to lead a protest procession, get arrested and observe a hunger strike needlessly to be a recognized leader, and what secret bargaining you suggested he possibly have done when these discriminatory laws are there to stay and never will be repealed. No matter who leads the community. Instead of strengthening the hands of those leaders, who are catching the bull by the horns in Pakistan. People like you sitting out of the country want to sympathize the Christians they never even met. What difference it will make if he declare his business, profession or the sources of finances if he is still paying the heavy bills without your personal contribution (according to your information). As for I know his meetings and seminars are not for his own personal gain, but for many issues of our community at large. I have a question that are you going back to Pakistan out of jealousy for 15 million Christians to replace Shahbaz Bhatti and going to do the things he is failed to do and be an honest, recognizable character when walking beside general Christians? Are we going to see you in near future leading processions, observing hunger strike, declaring your profession, get arrested, and never pay heavy bills, and not get caught in secret bargaining. Then we really need a leader like you who can break clear the mysteries attached to Clement Shahbaz Bhatti. All of the acquisitions about J. Salik and Shahbaz Bhatti dose not make sense at all. On one place you mentioned that Shahbaz has used CLF sources in settling his family in western countries. Can you name one as an example? To cut the story short this doesn’t look right to be a hindrance in the work of some leaders by tearing apart a rags ball. I can see that you have done your best in making all the acquisitions but creating a mistrust by poisoning the minds of oppressed innocent community is not a praise worthy job. Please use your energy in good causes and be strength not the weakness and don’t try to measure the credentials of a leader with a wrong yardstick of hunger strike, jail term and protests. We need more leaders in the field to get results. Spreading hate against some and supporting the fresh starters won't take us any where. Steve Almas Human Right Activist
