The purpose of my letter published on PCP website was to convince His Lordship Bishop Timotheus Nasir to resolve his differences with Dr. Robert Morey, privately and peacefully. However, it appears that my letter unintentionally further enraged the person addressed therein and entirely opposite meanings were taken of almost everything I said. I must admit that I failed miserably in conveying my message. Perhaps I should have been more careful in choosing the words to express myself. What I had attempted to do was to elucidate some facts and where I was unable to confirm some designations, I used the acceptable journalistic expressions to convey my inability to confirm the title etc. It was never my intention to disparage either His Lordship Bishop Timotheus Nasir or his affiliation with any organizations whether in the past or at present. It also was not my intention to take credit away from His Lordship for his name being displayed by Internet search engines. But I do want to mention that a serial murderer, Charles Manson, appears more than 266,000 times on Internet search engine Google®. Does it make Charles Manson a subject of envy for any sane person or does it, Naooz Billah, make him a better person than His Lordship Bishop Timotheus Nasir? I want to clarify that I never meant to show any disrespect towards Mr. Nazir Bhatti or to discredit his achievements. I personally believe that Mr. Bhatti took a bold and courageous step by starting a web-based newspaper that brings the plight of Pakistani Christians in front of the whole world. Also, by mentioning Mr. Hameed Dess to strengthen my argument I did not mean to belittle his contributions to Urdu and Punjabi literature, both secular and Christian. I have autographed copies of his literary work as well as a private audio collection of his ghazals and hymns sung by different singers. Without taking any credit away from anybody, I do have my differences with any recipient of an honorary doctoral degree who calls him/herself a "Doctor" solely based on the honorary degree. I know that His Lordship Bishop Timotheus Nasir does not agree with me on this, and perhaps many other points, but I hope His Lordship will agree with my right to disagree. I want to assure His Lordship Bishop Timotheus Nasir that I have no ax to grind against His Lordship and that everything I have learned about His Lordship is from the material either written by him or available on his websites. Also, I have never personally met Dr. Morey. I have known him only through his work that I believe is a reflection of his love for Christ. Furthermore, I don't personally know any bishop of church of Pakistan, particularly the 'two bishops' His Lordship Bishop Timotheus Nasir has mentioned in his letter. I wrote the letter entitled 'Guns and Roses' of my own volition; I am not on the pay roll of any church-affiliated organization and nobody requested me or promised to compensate me to do so. How could they? They don't know me. We have never met each other. I am a reclusive and very private person. I live far away from both California and Pakistan. I left Pakistan almost two decades ago and have not visited Western USA in last ten years. I am glad that His Lordship has expressed his desire to know more about a nobody such as myself. But I think my 'detailed background', 'my qualification', 'my profession' and the reason why I didn't think of joining the army are irrelevant to this discussion. However, there is one point I would like to address. His Lordship Bishop Timotheus Nasir has very kindly and affectionately inquired about my humble and lowly dwelling place and wants to know if I am from a 'Basti' (ghetto). Your Lordship is absolutely correct on this one. I am from a universal 'Basti' contemptuously called 'Basti EisaiaN' (Ghetto of the Christians). This ghetto has no physical boundaries, but is spread world over. Most of the residents of this 'Basti' are oppressed, down-trodden, illiterate and poor. They are actually a sorry lot, who believe a carpenter's son to be their eternal leader. In India, the residents of this 'Basti" are burnt alive along with their young children. In Lebano! n, Sudan, Nigeria and many other places the residents of this 'Basti' are facing a systemic genocide and no one is there to help them. In Saudi Arabia, they are tolerated until their services are needed, and then they are subjected to lashes and prison sentences for expressing their faith in their eternal leader. In Canada, their voice is stifled by proposing section 250-C. In Europe and USA, they can't use the name of their eternal leader in schools and public places lest they offend the liberals. And Your Lordship, you know what! In Pakistan, these miserable folks from 'Basti EisaiaN' are kept away from education and jobs by every perceivable way. Their educational institutions are grabbed away and returned back only when they are in total ruin. Their children are not allowed to drink water from school taps. Doors of higher education are shut closed for them. Their daughters are kidnapped and gang raped. Their places of worship are ransacked. Their priests are murdered. The residents of this 'Basti' have to convert to save their lives, their families and their belongings. Their ILLITERATES are convicted of 'WRITING' in violation of Section 295-C. They have no names, they are remembered as 'choorras' and 'bhangis'. They have no identity. They have just one title 'Ghair-Muslim' (non-Muslim). Their own 'Clergy Professionals' advertise their plight in brochures and website and collect funds in the name of these less fortunate residents of 'Basti EisaiaN' in Pakistan. And then suddenly Pajeros, SUVs, XUVs, Mercedes' and BMWs start appearing in front of 'Clergy Professionals' homes, but the fate of the ghetto people never changes. The residents of this 'Basti' in Pakistan are so ill-fated that when someone amongst them gets a slightly better status in the society, then, you know Your Lordship, that decoration-piece mocks his own by very kindly and affectionately asking if they are from the 'Basti'? Isn't that funny Your Lordship? Nay it is scary, and it is unfortunate.
