An Open Letter from The Rt. Rev. Ijaz Inayat

By :

Dear Sabir N. Bashir Din, Greetings, love and peace from Karachi With out entering the present debate of gossip I feel it is my responsibility to reflect on the issue from a positive perspective. Leaving aside personalities I feel the people are concerned about the church. As expected the reactions are different depending on the education, maturity, commitment and relationship with the Lord. But the good thing is that the people feel concerned. The Church always had all types of people on its roll which is sad because these types of persons with no commitment and integrity have come to positions and have always been used by the leadership for politics and gain of vested interests by those in position. Most of the people have been silent spectators or supporters of persons on the basis of their allegiance with particular lobbies. This particular attitude is not only unchristian but is also harmful to the church. No body can implement his/her own will through dictatorship, politics or the influence of the lobbies. All of us are accountable here in the church which in all cases is a democratic institution with laid down rules and also before the Lord. So my dear brother it is good that more and more persons are getting involved in the debate with the passage of time. To me it means that they are concerned about the authority they gave to the leadership by the laying of the hands and they have the right to raise questions about the things and acts they are not satisfied with. The answers must be given by the leadership. Off course it will lead many to the right full way of asking the Lord to intervene and save and revive the church as it belongs to Him and not to that leadership who do not care about the people and the Lord. It is painful to see the criticism in its present form but the frustration of the members of the church clearly indicates that there is some power urging the people to do some thing and I trust the Lord and He will ultimately lead His people to prayers and a time will come that the plants which have not been planted by the Lord shall be uprooted to be replaced by those who will bring forth good fruit for the Lord. In the mean time keep praying for the restoration of Lords authority in the church and for a big revival. Yours in Christ Ijaz Inayat. Bishop of Karachi, CoP
