Greeting to concerned and worried Pakistani Christians around the world. I would like to congratulate Christians around the world that we are actively engaged in a healthy dialogue about the leadership of the Pakistani Christian community. I realize that at times the e-mail engagement has turned a bit bitter but to a very great extend always had a ring of reality. This email circulation gave us a chance to share our views and opinions about our Christian leaders in Pakistan, both positive and negative. In fact it is a very rare and uniquely positive opportunity. The topic has been Rev. Shahbaz Bhatti, Dr. Nazir Bhatti, Religious leaders of Pakistan, and the author of Christian land in Pakistan. Our enlightened contributors have been Joe bolo, Danyaal Khan, Agnes Tabassun, Inayat Masih, Paul Pakyam, Rick Andrew, Raymond Durrani, CCA Canada, Joseph Kashif, Manny Alam, Ghalub Sahib, Mehboob Seda, Cecil Chaudhry, Fr. Bonnie Mendes and Fr. Yousaf Mani. If my memory serves me correct the e-mail circulation started with information about Rev. Shahbaz Bhatti, who is a nominated Federal Minister of Minorities in Pakistan. The valuable information that has stuck in my mind is that: Shahbaz Bhatti is an ordained Pastor who is running 300 Church in Pakistan as per the web site of 'Harvest Ministries International', California, USA. Shahbaz Bhatti is chair of the Evangelical movement of Pakistan, and then we learn from press statements that he is a Catholic and the Catholic Church has helped him to be placed in the government of Pakistan to establish Catholic leadership in Pakistan. Shahbaz Bhatti is actively and effectively converting the Muslims of Pakistan and Afghanistan to Christianity. In other words he is able to use the government of Pakistan platform and do the Lord's work. Shahbaz Bhatti the Federal Minister says in a press statement that the Christians in Pakistan enjoy equal opportunities and rights. Shahbaz Bhatti the Federal Minister pledges to abolish the blasphemy law in Pakistan. Shahbaz Bhatti was a ring leader and was involved in a Bank robbery. Shahbaz Bhatti is receiving millions of dollars in financial aid from aid agencies across the world. People who know him in Pakistan know about his journey from bicycle to Pejaro's, from a mud house in his village Khushpur to mansions in all major cities across Pakistan. Shahbaz Bhatti's brother Peter Bhatti in Canada, acting as an agent on behalf of his brother to collect monies from Sikhs with a promise that his brother will take care of their religious buildings in Pakistan. Dr. Nazir Bhatti, from www.pakistan christianpost.com brings Pakistan into our homes. Bhatti Sahib, please don't be discouraged and continue the good work. Brothers why are we overly concerned about Rev. Shahbaz Bhatti and what do we expect from him. Please read on and maybe I will be able to get my point across. Shahbaz Bhatti is a nominated parliamentarian by the corrupt government of 'Pakistan People's Party', headed by Asif Ali Zardari. Shahbaz has never contested any election in Pakistan and is totally disconnected with the Pakistani Christian community of Pakistan. The common man in Pakistan does not recognize his as their leader or representative in the government. Shahbaz specializes is obtaining favors from Church leaders and now Pakistan Peoples Party using the back door, using the financial aid monies he receives for the victims of rape and blasphemy law etc. to buy his way to the power corridors of Pakistan. When any Pakistani Christian accepts a position of a nominated parliamentarian in any political party, he or she is an employee of the political party that has nominated a Christian individual to be a MPA or a MNA. The nominated individual has to speak the party language and walk the party line. The nominated individual is not answerable to the public but only to the party leader. In other words the nominated parliamentarian has to be qualified as an individual having no conscious, loyal as a dog to the party leader and do and say things according to the wishes of the boss and that is the party leader. Christians are appointed as parliamentarians only to show the world that the minorities are represented in the parliament of Pakistan. All minority appointed parliamentarians are employees of the political parties. These individuals are not politicians but have a job in a political party as a result they can only work for the leader of the party and never be a voice of the suffering people of Pakistan. Pakistan People's Party has a reputation that all Pakistani Christians are aware of, if not; please allow me to refresh your memory. 1. PPP nationalized our educational institutions. 2. PPP nationalized our hospitals. 3. PPP's minister of religious affairs Maulana Kauser Naizi, proposed a uniform for the Christians living in Pakistan. 4. Z.A. Bhutto ridiculed the Christians on National television. 5. The nationalization policy of PPP paralyzed the Christian community of Pakistan. The history teaches us that Pakistan People's Party systematically destroyed the Christians in Pakistan. It took the community almost 34 years (1974-2008) to bounce back or at least recover a bit. It was President Musharraf who was the savior and returned some important land marks to the Christians, institutions like Forman Christian College, Lahore. Musharraf was good to Christians and was good for the Christians but as most us know that Shahbaz Bhatti was always against him. Shahbaz calling himself a leader of the Christians condemned his rule in favor of Bhutto. It was not that he had any interest in democracy nor he would be a part of a democratic government by running for public office but the underline scheme was that Shahbaz was promised a ministerial post by the PPP. Shahbaz Bhatti used the Pakistani Christian community as a bargaining chip for his personal advancement. All political parties of Pakistan keenly eye the Christian vote of Pakistan and little that they do is with the intension to pocket the vote of the politically immature community of Pakistan. A government that chooses to implement a separate electorate system for the Christians will practically demonstrate that they believe in the dignity of the Christians living in Pakistan. At present the Blasphemy Laws and all Islamic discriminatory laws that have been used against the Christians of Pakistan was on the law books of Pakistan and are effectively used to intimidate and harass Christians. Churches are being burnt, Christian women are being raped, Forcible conversion to Islam is a daily practice and amongst all these violations our nominated Christian Minister says that Christians are enjoying equal opportunities and rights. Dear brothers and sisters, please don't be fooled by Shahbaz Bhatti any more as he is not our man he is Zardari's man, who is a established fraud, murderer and a criminal. Remember the old saying, 'A man is known by the company he keeps'. Shahbaz Bhatti who claimed to be a leader of the Christians and spoke out against the violation of the rights of Christians in Pakistan today works for the government of Pakistan. A government that has the blasphemy laws and other discriminatory laws as a part of the Pakistan penal code, an effective and dangerous tool in the hands of the growing fanatic Islamic population of Pakistan. Today Shahbaz Bhatti is a part of the PPP government and a minister of minorities with a job to do and that job is effectively implementing the laws of the Pakistan government. Being a Pakistani Christian Shahbaz Bhatti was a part of the persecuted but today as he works for the government of Pakistan so his new role is the persecutor of the Christians. The Hunted becomes the Hunter. We as a community should pray that God bless us with a true Christian leader who loves the creator and love His people.
