Sialkot: November 21, 2008. (PCP) Nadeem Masih aged 22, employed as daily wages sanitary worker in Municipal Corporation of Sialkot died here today when forced by four officials to go down in gutter for cleaning at 9.00 PM.
Nadeem obeyed their order but came up and told officials that water is very cold in gutter and he feels some bad odor in it. The officers cursed him and pushed him in gutter where he died.
It is not a first incident that Sanitary workers in cities of Pakistan are Christians and they are forced to enter in gutters without safety equipment and killed but incident of Sialkot death is different when an employee is forced to do cleaning at night and on complaining is pushed to die.
The Christians in Sialkot, Workers Union and Pakistan Adam Rights groups lodged protest and police registered case under Section 302 PPC against four Muslim officers but police is reluctant to arrest them
The Christian residents of Bab-e-Di Bairy where Nadeem Masih was residing with his family are under fear because police arrested two Christians on creating law and order situation instead of arresting killer Muslims.
PCP sources revealed that Muslim politicians are supporting Muslim culprits and defending them.
The Christian Associations has urged national forums to ensure justice and arrests of killers who are walking free on streets and threatening local Christians.
