FAISALABAD: October 10, 2008. (Imran Mazhar reports) Batala Colony Police arrested a man on the charge of desecrating a copy of Holy Quran at Amin Park on Thursday.
Rehmat Ali allegedly desecrated the Holy Quran. After the incident, the area Muslims staged a demonstration and blocked the road from Fawara Chowk up to Satiana Road. They were chanting slogans against the accused.
In the meantime, MPA Mohammad Shafiq Gujjar rushed to spot and assured the protesters of taking strict action against the accused. Hence, the protesters dispersed peacefully. A case has been registered against Rehmat Ali.
