ROME, ITALY: On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the Italian Parliament will host a high-profile commemorative event, "Builders of Peace – Remembering to Act," marking the 15th anniversary of the martyrdom of Shahbaz Bhatti. Bhatti, the former Pakistani Minister for Minority Affairs, was assassinated in 2011 for his unwavering defense of religious freedom and his opposition to discriminatory laws.

The solemn proceedings will begin at 11:30 AM with a Holy Mass at the San Gregorio Nazianzeno Chapel, the official chapel of the Chamber of Deputies. The main conference will follow at 3:15 PM in the prestigious Sala del Refettorio, Palazzo San Macuto.

Event is organized by association of Pakistani Christians in Italy.

The gathering brings together prominent voices from the Vatican, the Italian government, and international human rights organizations to bear witness to the ongoing struggle for religious liberty.

Adan Farhaj and International Advocacy

A key highlight of the second session, beginning at 5:00 PM, will be the contribution of Adan Farhaj, Director of International Relations for the "Pakistani Christians in Italy" association.

Mr. Farhaj is scheduled to deliver a vital speech addressing the current state of minority issues in Pakistan. His address aims to bridge the gap between the sacrifices made by Shahbaz Bhatti and the contemporary challenges facing religious minorities today, advocating for international awareness and legislative protection for vulnerable communities.

The event will be live-streamed for a global audience via the Italian Parliament’s official Web TV at webtv.camera.it.
