Pakistan: BACA has stepped in to support the family of 14-year-old Christian girl, Sumaira George, who was brutally abducted and raped in Sahiwal. Facing threats and pressure from the influential relatives of the culprits, the family had to temporarily relocate. With BACA’s intervention, they have now moved to a secure house (click here) and obtained legal assistance to pursue justice.

The Incident

On 5th December 2025, Sumaira George went to a clay oven in Chak 82/6R, Sahiwal, to fetch chapatis when she was abducted by Muhammad Bilal and Nimra Bibi. They slapped her, threatened her, and forced her onto a motorcycle driven by Muhammad Bilal. The abductors took her to Nimra Bibi’s home, where Muhammad Zohaib and Muhammad Shazil were already present. After locking the door, they left Sumaira alone with Muhammad Zohaib, who raped her.

In an unconscious state, Sumaira was abandoned on an unconstructed plot of land near her home. Neighbors alerted her mother, Nasreen George, who rescued her daughter. Sumaira was immediately taken to District Headquarters Hospital Sahiwal, where medical examination confirmed repeated sexual assault.

The police registered an FIR (No. 1452/25) under Sections 375 and 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested the culprits. Nimra Bibi had already obtained pre-arrest bail, while Muhammad Zohaib was sent for DNA testing at the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.

Threats and Need for Safe Housing

After the arrests, the influential relatives of the culprits began pressuring Sumaira’s family to drop the case. Concerned for their safety, the family temporarily moved to a relative’s home.

On 12th December, BACA visited the family, providing financial assistance and addressing immediate needs. Nasreen George requested a safe house near the court and legal support to fight for justice.

BACA initially offered a house in a remote city, but the family requested a location closer to the court for easier commuting. On 26th December, BACA arranged a safe house near the court, allowing the family to attend hearings safely.

Sahil Masih, Sumaira’s elder brother, expressed gratitude:

“I am thankful to BACA for helping us financially and arranging a house for us. I request BACA for legal assistance as well.”

Legal Assistance from BACA

With the court granting post-arrest bails to Muhammad Shazil and Bilal on 19th December, and Nimra Bibi already holding pre-arrest bail, the family could not afford legal representation. BACA swiftly hired Choudhary Javaid Sahotra, a prominent Christian lawyer in Sahiwal, to ensure Sumaira’s rights are fully protected.

Mr. Sahotra met with the family and reviewed the case in detail. He assured BACA that all possible legal measures would be pursued to secure justice and protect the family from threats.

Recent Developments

On 5th December, Sumaira recorded her statement under Section 164 CrPC in the court of Civil Judge Touseef Adeel Hassan.

Nimra Bibi filed an application for re-examination of Sumaira’s medical report, falsely claiming it was fake. A court hearing is scheduled for 12th January 2026. Advocate Mr. Sahotra stated:

“Nimra Bibi has no legal basis to challenge the medical report issued by Haji Abdul Qayum, District Headquarters Hospital Sahiwal. I am confident the court will dismiss this application.”

Nasreen George, said: “Without BACA’s support and the generous contributions of its donors, seeking justice for my daughter would have been almost impossible. The constant threat of violence and the fear of a repeat attack left us feeling helpless, but being safely removed from that danger has strengthened our resolve to fight for what is right. We are deeply grateful for the Christian lawyer BACA has provided, and we are confident in his ability to represent Sumaira fairly. I ask everyone to pray for his safety, for our family, and for a just decision in this case.”

BACA’s Commitment

BACA continues to stand with victims of violence and marginalized communities, providing financial aid, safe housing, and legal assistance. Thanks to BACA’s timely intervention, Sumaira George and her family can now pursue justice without fear or financial hardship.

Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee for British Asian Christian Association, said:  “This case highlights the extreme vulnerability of children and the urgent need for justice. Sumaira and her family have shown incredible courage in the face of threats and intimidation. I pray for their safety, for the safety of those representing them, and for a just outcome that holds the perpetrators fully accountable.”
