Christian Minor Girl Abducted and raped in Sahiwal: Family Threatened. Report by Juliet Chowdhry and Hannah Chowdhry
Sahiwal, Pakistan: Nasreen George and her son Salil Masih are demanding justice for Saira, standing resolutely alongside her as they face threats and intimidation from the culprits’ relatives.
Fourteen-year-old Saira George was recently abducted and brutally raped in her village. She was found unconscious on an unconstructed plot near her home, suffering severe injuries.
A Medico-Legal Certificate has confirmed the extent of the rape.
The police have arrested the main attacker and several accomplices, though one suspect remains on pre-arrest bail.
Due to threats from influential locals, the family has relocated to the home of a relative.
The British Asian Christian Association (BACA) has visited the family, and stands ready to provide financial assistance, prayers, and legal support to ensure their safety and help seek justice.
On 7th December, a 14-year-old Christian girl, Saira George, was abducted and raped by a Muslim man in Chak No. 82/6R, Sahiwal. The attack left Saira unconscious, and she was abandoned on an unconstructed plot near her house. Police quickly responded and transported her to District Head Quarters Hospital, Sahiwal, where doctors confirmed she had been raped.
The family is now under threat as the culprits are influential in the area and have attempted to pressure them to withdraw the case. For safety, Saira and her family have temporarily relocated to a relative’s house.
On 12th December, a BACA team visited the family, offering solidarity, prayers for Saira’s recovery, financial help, and legal support.
Saira is currently recovering under the protection of her family, as they work to keep her safe while seeking justice.
Mother’s Account
Saira’s mother, Nasreen George, shared the harrowing details:
“On 7th December, around 11:30 am, Saira left home to get chapatis from a nearby clay oven. About half an hour later, someone informed me that my daughter was lying unconscious on an unconstructed plot near our house. I rushed to the scene, and it shook the earth beneath me. Saira was lying unconscious, her clothes stained with blood. I called the police, who arrived within 15 minutes. When I saw my innocent girl like that, I couldn’t stop crying.”
Saira regained consciousness at the scene and reported to the police that while she was on her way to the clay oven, Nimra and Muhammad Bilal arrived on a motorbike and forced her to go with them. She said that Nimra slapped her and threatened her not to make any noise. They took her to Nimra’s house, where Muhammad Shazil and Muhammad Zohaib were already present. According to Saira, they locked the sitting room from outside and left, after which Muhammad Zohaib raped her repeatedly. She lost consciousness and was later found on an unconstructed plot near her home.
Medical and Legal Action
Saira was examined at District Head Quarters Hospital, Sahiwal, where Dr. Amaila Anum issued a Medico-Legal Certificate (MLC) confirming the occurence of rape. The Fateh Sher Police Station registered FIR No. 1452/25 under sections 376 and 375 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Muhammad Bilal, Shazil, and Zohaib have been arrested.
Nimra Bibi remains on pre-arrest bail.
The family has received threats from the relatives of the culprits, pressuring them to drop the case, as attempts are being made to thwart justice through compromises under Pakistan’s controversial Qisas and Diyat laws.
Family Situation
Saira’s mother, Nasreen George, is raising her children alone after her husband, George Masih, passed away 15 years ago. Her eldest son, Sahil Masih (21 yrs), works as a labourer with no permanent job. Saira’s sister, Sonika (19 yrs), also lives with the family.
The attack on Saira and her family has caused severe financial and logistical challenges. For safety, the family has temporarily relocated to stay with relatives, but this arrangement is only short-term, as the relatives themselves lack the funds and space to accommodate them for an extended period.
The British Asian Christian Association (BACA) has stepped in to provide immediate assistance, but the family urgently needs further support to secure safe housing and legal representation:
Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee for British Asian Christian Association, said:
“We are appalled by the brutal attack on young Saira and utterly disgusted by the failure of Pakistani authorities to protect vulnerable children like her. The family now faces threats designed to coerce them into dropping the case, exploiting Pakistan’s Qisas and Diyat laws, which allow perpetrators—often from influential families—to pay for exoneration from rape and murder. This is a desperate plea for help, and Christians around the world must pray for Saira and her family, raise their voices against these injustices, and call for urgent legal reforms in Pakistan to protect the most vulnerable and ensure that no one can buy their way out of accountability.”
