Pakistani Christian asylum seekers in Thailand live in constant fear due to the country’s refusal to recognise refugees, leaving them vulnerable to arrest and detention.

As police raids intensify in December, many families are forced into isolation, unable to work or access basic services.

On 30th November, BACA provided urgent food grants to 10 struggling Christian families, helping them afford essentials like rent, medicine, and food.

This support brings vital hope to a community trapped in uncertainty and searching for safety, dignity, and compassion.

On 30th November 2025, the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) delivered critical support to 12 vulnerable Pakistani Christian asylum-seeking families in Thailand, offering a lifeline at a time when fear and uncertainty dominate their daily existence.

For years, thousands of Pakistani Christians fleeing violent persecution have sought refuge in Thailand. Yet despite the desperate circumstances that drive them from their homeland, Thailand does not recognise asylum seekers, leaving families in a state of perpetual limbo. Without legal status, they cannot work, access healthcare, or enrol their children in school. Instead, they must survive as undocumented migrants—constantly threatened by arrest, detention, and deportation.

A Terrifying Reality for Pakistani Christian Refugees

Asylum-seeking families report regular police raids, with many already arrested and taken to the notorious Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) in Bangkok. Fear has locked families inside their homes, forcing parents to choose between hiding and searching for food for their children.

December, a month celebrated by Christians worldwide as a season of joy and hope, has become instead a season of dread for Pakistani believers in Thailand. With increased nationwide immigration raids, the threats of arrest and separation have intensified sharply.

One BACA volunteer in Bangkok shared that entire Christian neighbourhoods are now in lockdown, with families too afraid to leave their apartments.

BACA’s Lifeline of Support

In the midst of this worsening crisis, BACA continues to stand by vulnerable Christian families. Through its Food Grant Program, BACA provided each selected family with 1,000 Thai Baht (approximately £25)—a modest but vital amount that can help secure essentials such as food, rent, medicines, and milk for their infants.

Among the beneficiaries, Shazia Victor (43 yrs) expressed deep gratitude:

Komal Aneeka Adan (31 yrs), the mother of three children, shared her struggles:

“I am truly grateful to BACA and all the donors for the £25 support. Please continue helping us—my baby still needs milk, and my husband has no work. We often run short of food, and my husband struggles with breathing problems. I also suffer from thyroid issues that make it hard to breathe. We desperately need your support.”
