Sargodha: August 8, 2008. (Report by Khadijah Shah)Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority affairs Punjab, Kamran Michael and Khalil Tahir Sindhu, MPA Punjab, came to Sargodha from Lahore, in a form of procession of nearly 100 motorbikes and 40 to 50 cars, with people holding flags and banners and raising slogans to show their happiness on their arrival to Sargodha. All the Christians and PML 'N' Punjab Assembly members received the Provincial Minister warmly over Pull 47, Sargodha. Then the procession headed towards Jinnah Hall (Company Bagh), Sargodha Jinnah Hall (Company Bagh): All the Christians of Sargodha and PML 'N' members raised slogans and celebrated the occasion as they approached Jinnah Hall (Company Bagh) where PML 'N' has to carry forth the Minority Wing Convention. The hall was overcrowded with more than thousand (1000) people of Christian community, Sargodha. The important personalities at this event were the Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority affairs Punjab Kamran Michael, MPA Punjab Khalil Tahir Sindhu, MPA Punjab Rizwan Gill, MPA Punjab Abdul Razzaq Dhillu, President of Minority Wing district Sargodha, Qaisar Zia, Vice President of Minority Wing PMLN district Sargodha, Yaqoob Randhawa and General Sectary of Minority Wing Ejaz Peter. Kamran Michael while addressing to the minority convention stated that government of Punjab is struggling hard to stop negligence, injustice, unemployment and stop the increasing crime. They are trying to make the foundation of government centers muscular. They are functioning firmly to encourage the people to overlook all the dissimilarities of cast and creed systems so that equal rights should be provided to all. Now the funds will be handed over safely to deprived, disabled, needy and feeble, Michael stated. The governmental employments will not be restricted to only wealthy and people in authority. During the independence of Pakistan, the minorities believed and followed Quaid- E –Azam’s leadership and played a decisive role in the creation of Pakistan. In the development of Pakistan the minorities will move side to side with the government and will do whatever is possible to make the defense of Pakistan unbeatable. Sargodha Express Forum: Some people are misusing the law, especially 295c (Blasphemy Law) Kamran Michael said in the Express News Office Sargodha. We forbade and are against such strategies put forth by the extremists. He declared that minority worked resolutely and gave many sacrifices for the sovereignty of Pakistan. Even in the enhancement of Pakistan they are working side to side with the government. The rights of minorities though at times are subjugated as they cannot apply for pedestal of Prime Minister and President of Pakistan. Like Pakistan Peoples Party, many other peace working parties will demonstrate there best effort in promoting harmony all over the nation. We should not give up our struggle for the independence of judiciary. Without its freedom justice and equality cannot be promoted. General Secretary of Minority Wing, MPA Punjab, Khalil Tahir Sindhu stated that PML 'N' is working under the consideration of Mian Shahbaz Sharif. Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and the dedicated leaders of this party will accomplish their promises which they have kept with the minorities. Their practicality is visible and some partial and crucial steps will come into view very soon. The human rights will be restored and severe steps should be taken against those who violate the rules. To resolve the tribulations of public, a free helpline will be launched very soon through which people can stay in contact with the government directly. Due to high illiteracy rate in our country, people are unaware of their benefits and privileges. Education is very essential for the public of Pakistan. In different occupations like education, health care etc, the role of the minorities was affectionate. Poverty and disastrous situation of our country have not provided the minorities with their rights. Government has decided to provide the people with relief through Food Stamp Scheme and many other schemes. Kamran Michael stated that human rights welfare officers are being employed in Police stations, different districts and Public Defender Divisional Headquarters. They will issue reports about human rights violations on daily basis. He confirmed that Press played a significant role to endorse the intellectual and hard working journalists. Due to the Press, every citizen is now aware and can differentiate between friend and foe of Pakistan. Now the public of Pakistan is on alert and they display their patriotic spirits. He pointed out that we should be responsive of our circumstances and should pinpoint those who are violating human rights so that the departments of government should take action against the culprits at once. He affirmed that Islam protects the rights of Muslims as well as minorities. At this time it is essential that we all should unite and disregard all the differences and discrimination. Due to Pakistan we all are leading an independent life. At this occasion different speakers addressed to the public. Sargodha Press Club: Kamran Michael and Khalil Tahir Sindhu announced the authoritative members of PMLN Minority Wing. According to the declaration President of Minority Wing PMLN district Sargodha is Qaisar Zia, Vice President of Minority Wing PMLN district Sargodha is Yaqoob Randhawa and General Sectary of Minority Wing PMLN is Ejaz Peter. At night Kamran Michael and Khalil Tahir Sindhu went to the circuit house to take rest and refreshment. Meeting at Ijaz Peter's residence (Jinnah Colony): Provincial Minister Kamran Michael, MPA Khalil Tahir Sindhu and MPA Tahir Naveed Chaudhry showed their crucial attendance. There they took dinner and 100 other members of Christian minority were also in attendance. Khalil Tahir Sindhu heard the probing problems of the minorities. The Chairman of Rays Of Development Organization (ROD), Ferhan Mazhar was also in attendance and he introduced 'ROD', the work they are doing and the dilemmas they are facing. Khalil Tahir Sindhu reassured him that the tribulations of ROD will be recovered very soon. Khalil Thair Sindhu told that 1000 forms are distributed amongst Christian families of Sargodha for Food Stamp Scheme. He told that 30,000 Christian families will receive benefit from this Food Stamp Scheme in Punjab. Khalil Tahir Sindhu also declared that they are trying to start a housing scheme (3 marlas per house) which is under process so that all the people of minorities should be provided with shelter.
