“No Silence in the Face of Terror”: LEAD Ministries Founder Issues Urgent Global Plea After Mass Kidnapping in Nigeria. Report by Sardar Mushtaq Gill

Papiri, Nigeria – November 24, 2025 – In a shocking and deeply distressing attack, 315 students and staff were abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Niger State, in the early hours of November 21. Armed militants forcibly took children, teachers, and staff, leaving families, educators, and the local community gripped by fear and uncertainty.

The schools, run by the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) and affiliated with the Catholic Diocese of Kontagora, have long been pillars of education and hope in a region often marred by violence. The abduction underscores the persistent threat posed by extremist groups targeting vulnerable communities, spreading terror, and destabilizing society.

Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Founder of LEAD Ministries, issued a powerful condemnation of the attack, calling for immediate global attention and action. “We cannot remain silent while extremists terrorize Christians and other vulnerable communities. It is our duty to raise our voices and act for justice,” Gill said.

Gill stressed that the militant groups behind such attacks are politically and ideologically driven, often misinterpreting religious texts and history to justify violence. “These extremists seek to dominate, instill fear, and expand their influence globally. Their actions are indiscriminate, harming civilians—including sometimes members of their own faith—while exploiting political instability, conflict, and weak governance,” he explained.

He further called for a united response from the international community, faith leaders, and local populations. “Only coordinated advocacy, prayer, and protective measures can safeguard vulnerable communities and uphold justice,” Gill emphasized.

Gill also issued a direct appeal to politicians and governments, urging that this is the time, particularly for Christians in politics, to stand firmly with persecuted Christians and implement policies that protect communities, preserve faith, and safeguard the Church’s role in society.

The abduction in Papiri is part of a worrying pattern of attacks against Christians, children, and other marginalized groups across Nigeria, Africa, and the Middle East. Gill urged churches, religious leaders, and communities worldwide to stand together in protecting innocent lives and holding perpetrators accountable.

As families wait anxiously for news of their loved ones, LEAD Ministries reaffirmed its stance: silence is not an option. “Unity, courage, and moral clarity are our strongest tools in defending life, dignity, and justice,” Gill emphasized.
