A Christmas Miracle in the Making for a Grieving House Collapse Christian Family. Report by Juliet Chowdhry and Hannah Chowdhry

Pakistan: A deadly roof collapse in Narowal claimed the life of two-year-old Anaya and left several family members seriously injured.

The extended Masih family, now homeless and grieving, were forced to take refuge in cramped rooms offered by neighbours.

BACA stepped in immediately—covering funeral and medical costs and committing to rebuild their entire home with strong, weather-resistant foundations.

Construction is now underway, and the family hopes to move back into their new home before Christmas.

A devastating tragedy struck a Christian family in Narowal when the roof of their aging home collapsed after heavy rains, killing a young child and injuring several others. The house—originally built from mud and wooden beams over 30 years ago—had become increasingly unstable as the family grew after the marriages of three brothers: Nasir, Kashif (late), and Qaiser (late).

On 27th August, after a severe downpour, the roof of the second floor gave way, crashing through the first and collapsing to the ground level. Two-year-old Anaya Qaiser was killed, while Abeel Nasir (2) and Shanaya Nasir sustained serious injuries.

BACA’s team immediately visited the grieving family, covered the funeral expenses, and provided financial support for medical treatment. (Read more here)

A Family Left Homeless — and in Deep Grief

With their home destroyed, the family had no choice but to scatter, taking temporary refuge in small rooms offered by neighbours. Already burdened by the loss of two brothers in previous years, the family of 16 faced unimaginable hardship.

During BACA’s visit, the team assured the family that their home would be rebuilt—stronger, safer, and capable of protecting them from future storms.

Construction Begins: A Foundation of Strength and Security

On 1st November, BACA returned to Narowal to meet with the family and the contractor. To ensure long-term safety, BACA instructed the contractor to lay a deep, reinforced foundation, using crush bricks and raising the house above street level to prevent future water accumulation.

The debris has already been cleared, and foundation work is underway.

The contractor has committed to completing:

Construction within 3 weeks

Plastering, flooring, and electrical work within an additional 10–12 days

If all goes according to plan, the entire family will be back in their rebuilt home before Christmas.

A Father’s Gratitude

During the visit, Nasir Masih expressed his heartfelt appreciation:

“I am deeply grateful to BACA and to every donor whose kindness is rebuilding our home and our hope.”

“I cannot bear the thought of my late brothers’ families living apart—we only have each other, and your support is keeping us together.”

“Your generosity has fulfilled BACA’s promise and strengthened my faith in Christ during the hardest time of our lives.”

For the first time since the tragedy, the family feels seen, supported, and remembered by their community in Christ.

A Christmas Homecoming Filled with Hope

This large family—already carrying the weight of multiple losses—is now on the path toward emotional and physical restoration. With a safe home, they can once again live together, support one another, and begin rebuilding their lives.

BACA remains committed to standing with the vulnerable, ensuring no family faces tragedy alone.

Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee of the British Asian Christian Association:

“No family should endure such heartbreak alone. Rebuilding this home is not just about bricks and cement—it is about restoring dignity, stability, and hope. We are grateful to every supporter who is helping this devastated family stand again.”
