Christian Labourer Deceived and Left Without a Kidney: LEAD Ministries Demands Justice. Report by Sardar Mushtaq Gill

Faisalabad, Pakistan: In a shocking case from Samundri, Faisalabad district, Christian labourer Tanvir Masih, father of four daughters, has fallen victim to medical exploitation and deception. Tanvir, a daily wage earner, approached his Muslim employer seeking help for persistent stomach pain. Trusting his employer’s influence, he was referred to Dr. Muhammad Sadiq Khurshid, a local landowner and doctor.

Dr. Khurshid told Tanvir he knew a female doctor in Peshawar who could conduct medical tests. With no reason to doubt this, and lacking alternatives, Tanvir traveled under Dr. Khurshid’s supervision to Peshawar for what he believed was routine testing. After surgery, upon returning home, Tanvir suffered discomfort and visited another doctor to remove his stitches. To his horror, he was told one of his kidneys had been removed—without his knowledge or consent.

LEAD Ministries Pakistan, a Christian human rights organization advocating for marginalized communities, has highlighted this case, calling for urgent attention and legal action. Pastor Imran Amanat, leader of LEAD Ministries, demands justice for Tanvir and mercy from the international community. He said, “This heartbreaking incident reveals the deep vulnerabilities minorities face in Pakistan. We urge governments and human rights bodies worldwide to stand with Tanvir Masih and ensure he receives justice and protection.”

Sardar Mushtaq Gill, a human rights lawyer associated with LEAD Ministries, condemned the case as a grave human rights violation. He said, “This is not merely unethical medical practice; it is a brutal infringement on basic human rights. It reflects the exploitation faced by Christian labourers and minorities in rural Pakistan, where justice is often denied.”

LEAD Ministries highlights this incident as part of a larger pattern of systemic discrimination and abuse against religious minorities in Pakistan. Christian labourers, among the poorest and most marginalized, are highly vulnerable to such exploitation. Cases like Tanvir’s rarely reach the courts, and accountability remains scarce. LEAD Ministries calls for a full investigation and prosecution of all involved, including Dr. Khurshid and any accomplices.

The organization is also asking the Punjab Government, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, and international human rights bodies to become actively involved to ensure justice is served. Through its advocacy platform, LEAD Ministries continues to raise awareness and advocate for the rights of persecuted minorities.

This case is a sobering reminder of the urgent need for stronger medical oversight, legal protections, and awareness to safeguard vulnerable communities. LEAD Ministries remains committed to amplifying the voices of victims like Tanvir Masih and pressing for justice in the face of systemic exploitation.
