Islamabad: The Pakistan Christian Awareness Movement has been protesting on the streets for the past several years. It has been trying to draw the attention of international organizations by protesting on social media, electronic and print media to enact legislation to prevent the misuse of the blasphemy law. By the grace of God , the higher courts have heeded our call.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the federal government to establish a commission to investigate blasphemy cases across the country. This decision aims to address concerns over the misuse and mishandling of blasphemy allegations, which often lead to mob violence, extra-judicial actions, and harassment of innocent citizens without proper evidence or legal process.
According to a report by the National Commission for Human Rights, there are currently 767 people in jail awaiting trial over blasphemy allegations

Dr. Emanuel Adil Ghauri, Chairman of the Christian Awaerness  Movement, said in a media statement that the religious freedom of chrstians  in Pakistan is limited only to the constitution. In practice, this is not the case. Religious freedom does not mean simply going to church freely. If those who attack churches, desecrate the Holy Bible, and burn Christians alive are acquitted easlly  by the courts, then the purpose of religious freedom is lost
He further said that an example of religious  freedom is Naz Shah, a Pakistani Muslim woman elected in the recent British elections, who took the oath of office on the Holy Quran.
Here in the Sindh Assembly, a Christian MPA started his speech according to his faith, causing a ruckus in the parliament, and the Speaker of the Assembly ordered the deletion of words of Christian faith from the proceedings of the assembly.
Religious freedom cannot be imagined in a country where minority parliamentarians cannot take the oath of office according to their faith.
