Lahore, Pakistan: In the wake of a devastating suicide bombing that targeted a Christian church in Syria, LEAD Ministries Pakistan has issued a forceful condemnation of the attack, describing it as a grievous affront to human dignity and religious freedom. The assault, which occurred over the weekend, claimed numerous lives and injured scores of worshippers, drawing widespread outrage and sorrow from religious communities and human rights organizations across the globe.

Pastor Imran Amanat, a leading voice for Christian advocacy in Pakistan and current head of LEAD Ministries, voiced profound grief over the atrocity. Speaking from Lahore, he decried the bombing as “a ruthless and inhumane assault on sacred life and the fundamental freedom of worship.”

“This act of terror against peaceful believers gathered in prayer is an affront to all that is decent and sacred,” Pastor Amanat stated. “As followers of Christ, we stand united with our Syrian brothers and sisters in faith, offering our prayers, solidarity, and unwavering support during this time of mourning.”

Founded to defend the rights of religious minorities in Pakistan, LEAD Ministries has expanded its mandate under Pastor Amanat’s leadership to address growing threats to Christian communities across the Middle East and South Asia. The ministry provides legal aid, humanitarian relief, and promotes interfaith harmony through education and advocacy.

Pastor Amanat’s statement also included a firm appeal to the international community, urging swift and decisive measures to safeguard religious minorities in conflict zones. “Such senseless violence must not be allowed to silence the voices of peace and reconciliation,” he emphasized. “The global community must act with resolve to protect sacred spaces and uphold the inalienable right to freedom of religion.”

Joining the call for justice was Sardar Mushtaq Gill, the founder of LEAD Ministries Pakistan and a longstanding human rights attorney. Gill echoed Pastor Amanat’s sentiments, demanding accountability from national and international authorities.

“Christians across the world—particularly in Islamic countries—continue to suffer under the shadow of persecution,” said Gill. “This tragedy underscores the urgent need for world leaders and justice institutions to take concrete steps to prevent such atrocities and ensure the safety and dignity of all faith communities.”

The attack in Syria comes amid a troubling resurgence of religiously motivated violence in several regions marked by political instability and extremism. Churches and other places of worship have increasingly become symbolic targets, raising alarm among civil society groups over the lack of adequate protection for vulnerable communities.

In closing, Pastor Amanat called on Christians worldwide to respond not with fear, but with faith and resilience. “In the face of this heartbreaking tragedy, we must reaffirm our collective responsibility to stand for justice, compassion, and religious liberty,” he said. “Let us not allow terror to triumph over hope.”

As memorial services are held across the region, and international leaders continue to issue statements of solidarity, the voices from LEAD Ministries Pakistan serve as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for religious freedom—and the enduring strength of those who champion it.
