Christian Youth Arrested in Lahore on Social Media Blasphemy Accusations amid Growing Concerns of Honey Trapping Tactics

Lahore, Pakistan: (By Sardar Mushtaq Gill) On March 17, 2025, 24-year-old Arslan Gill, a Christian resident of Railway Quarters in Mughal Pura, Lahore, was arrested and charged by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for allegedly sharing blasphemous content in Facebook groups. His arrest comes amid a disturbing rise in the exploitation of social media platforms for entrapment, particularly targeting religious minorities such as Christians.

According to reports, Arslan Gill is yet another victim of an ongoing pattern of entrapment in which innocent individuals are drawn into compromising situations through honey trapping tactics. These tactics, in which women are allegedly used to exploit men for personal vendettas, have raised serious concerns, particularly against the Christian community in Punjab.

Pastor Imran Amanat, a prominent leader of LEAD Ministries Pakistan, has issued a warning to Christian youth, advising them to exercise extreme caution while using social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. “These platforms have become fertile grounds for malicious individuals to exploit unsuspecting victims, particularly young Christians, and trap them in false blasphemy cases,” Amanat cautioned.

LEAD Ministries, a leading advocacy group dedicated to the protection of religious minorities in Pakistan, has been vocal in denouncing the misuse of blasphemy laws. Sardar Mushtaq Gill, the founder of LEAD Ministries, has called on the global human rights community to take a stand against the systematic victimization of individuals through honey trapping and the abuse of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws.

“It is imperative that we remain vigilant,” Gill stated. “Some individuals are using women as tools to settle personal scores and gain undue advantages, ultimately causing harm to others, including those who are wrongfully accused of blasphemy online.”

LEAD Ministries has raised alarm about how these tactics not only threaten the safety and security of religious minorities but also undermine the integrity of Pakistan's legal and social systems. As the organization continues to fight for justice and accountability, they urge the international community to intervene and press for reforms to prevent further exploitation.

The arrest of Arslan Gill is a stark reminder of the deepening crisis surrounding the misuse of blasphemy laws in Pakistan, with vulnerable groups, especially Christians, bearing the brunt of these unjust tactics. As the situation escalates, the need for global attention and intervention has never been more critical.
