HYDERABAD, May 30,2008: (Report by Abbas Kassar) Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chowdhry has said that lawyers struggle has reached its final phase and its fruits were to reach common man. He praised the struggle of lawyers of whole country and lauded sacrifices of lawyers of Sindh. He said the lawyer’s movement, which started 14 months back, has reached close to victory. The movement has no other aim but rule of law and supremacy of constitution. He was a addresssing lawyer of Sindh at Justice Chowdhry Hall in civil court here via telephone from Islamabad Friday. He said we want such society where justice was supreme. He quoted Hazar Ali (AS) in which he had said that " we can live with Kufr(infidels) but cannot live without justice. He said it was not necessary that only Supreme Court or High Court can impart justice but administration as well as lower courts can give it. He said we should create such atmosphere in which people feel that the society in which they were living they shall not have price to pay for getting justice. He lauded efforts of lawyers and judges who were trying to provide justice to people and for that puspose they have started movement since last 14 months. Now the fruits of this movement have started to reach to people. He said 160 million people also back the struggle of lawyers. He thanked lawyers of Hyderabad and other districts of Sindh who had assembled to hear him. He said lawyers have offered sacrifices for supremacy of justice. He saluted lawyers of Sindh adding that the creator of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah was also lawyer who had established foundation of country on rule of law. He said lawyers were against the rule of one man but they want such country where our next generations feel freedom and access to justice. He hoped that lawyers struggle would culminate in making country more strong and successful. He praised unity of lawyers adding that neverbefore in history of Pakisan had lawyers had such unity. Justice Iftikhar Chowdhry said that we couldn’t compromise justice, as man cannot live without getting justice. Justice Ghulam Rabbabi Judge of Supreme Court Pakistan, Kazi Abdul Sattar president High Court Bar Hyderabad, Chowdhry Bashir Gujjar president Hyderabad dsitrict Bar, Salahuddin Pahanwar president Mirpurkhas district bar, Iqbal Kassar president Badin district bar, Anwer Mahmood president district bar Sanghar, Ali Muhammad Daheri president district bar Nawabshah, Mukhtar Junejo president district bar Malir , Mahmoodul Hassan president Karachi Bar, Imam Bux Baloch Tando Adam, Anwer Nizamani and Naheed Afzal from Karachi also addressed the gathering. Justice Ghulam Rabbani said even Mushraf himself had admitted that his steps of 3 November were illegal which means that judges are not deposed or sacked but they are still judges of superior courts and have been stopped from performing theirduties. He said they dont recognise PCO judges who were equally guilty of high treason like Mushraf.
