Christian Father of Four Brutally Killed by Neighbours in Lahore

Pakistan: A Christian father of four, Marshall, also known as Bunty, was murdered by two neighbouring Muslim men in the early hours of July 10. The incident occurred at Patiala House Race Course Kachi Abadi in Lahore.

According to Yaqoob Masih, Marshall's father, "Two Muslim boys, our neighbours Shani and Azam, entered our house from the roof at around 4:20 am. They came in with two unknown accomplices," Masih stated, his voice filled with grief.

Masih detailed the sequence of events: "We were all in a deep sleep when they broke in. As soon as they reached us, they started firing at my son from different angles. Despite our cries for help, they kept shooting until my son fell to the ground, fatally wounded. Neighbours arrived after hearing the gunfire and our screams, but the attackers managed to escape."

Marshall was rushed to Service Hospital in Lahore, where he succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss. The grief-stricken Christian community in the area immediately took to the streets in protest, demanding swift justice. They gathered on Mall Road, appealing to the Chief Minister of Punjab for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

The protesters highlighted that the assailants, known drug dealers recently released from jail, had fired 15 bullets into Marshall. This brutal act has left three sisters without their only brother and a family without their main provider.

Marshall, 28, was a father to four children and the sole breadwinner of his family. He ran a small grocery store from their home, providing for his wife, Mehdi, their one son, and three daughters. His youngest daughter has not yet reached school age. The family, who are members of the Catholic Cathedral Church in Lahore, are now left devastated by this brutal act.

The local police registered FIR No. 1107/24 at the Racecourse police station at 7:30 am on the same day. However, despite the community's outcry and the severity of the crime, no arrests have been made so far.

This incident has sparked a wider conversation about the safety of religious minorities in Pakistan, with many calling for stronger measures to protect vulnerable communities and ensure justice is served swiftly. As the investigation continues, the family and the local Christian community wait anxiously for the authorities to bring the culprits to justice.
