Faisalabad: Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) highly condemned the kidnapping of juvenile, Christian girl Mehwish Razzaq aged 14, resident of Faisalabad, Pakistan.
On 30 April 2022, Mehwish kidnapped by a man who has been harassing her from last few weeks before her kidnapping. Mehwish kidnapped from a market where she went with her sister Saba Razzaq through an auto rickshaw to buy grocery.
Rashid Masih a Christian street fellow, whose auto rickshaw was hired by them, took them to the market. After Mehwish’s kidnapping, police inquired from Rashid Masih and Saba Razzaq. They told that on gun point Tahir Zaman with supporters has kidnapped her.
When police didn’t find Mehwish and Tahir Zaman, they registered First Information Report (FIR) on 31 May 2022 against Rashid Masih rather than Tahir Zaman.
Awais Razzaq a complainant of his sister kidnapping, shared while visiting the HRFP office with parents that they have submitted the marriage certificate and conversion certificate also with eyewitnesses’ statement, but police did not charged Tahir Zaman.
Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) has started the legal proceeding with family for the defense of Mehwish Razzaq. Most recently, on 10 August 2022, in a step ahead of legal proceedings for her recovery from detention in Chak Jhumra, the police raided on court orders at the house of Tahir Zaman, but they were relocated before time.

Now the case has processed through Lahore High Court by 23 August 2022, to challenge the willingness, age and for justice and to bring back the victim to home.
