London: (By Hannah Chowdhry) Image of Aleeza Ashiq Masih with her family.  She is now 5 years old and her growth rate is more pronounced meaning she requires two limb upgrades each year.

Aleeza Masih (5 yrs) was only 1.5 years old when she survived the brutal terrorist attack on Quetta Church on 17th December 2017.

The attack on Bethel Memorial Methodist Church during a Nativity service, killed 9 people and would have been worse had it not been for the bravery of Christian security Officers

Gunmen prevented from entering church by security officer:

Aleeza experienced a miraculous survival after the attack by Islamic militants left her with serious injuries to her bowels and left leg which was amputated.

Aleeza’s, life was saved by the generous donations of BACA donors who covered the costs of flights and hospital costs after severe complications arose from her initial treatment (click here).  Aleeza was initially treated at a Government Hospital which left her wounds intact. For better treatment she was taken to Agha Khan Hospital Karachi, a private medical facility.

Confidently Aleeza (1 yr 8mths) helps doctors measure for a prosthetic limb.

Since then we have paid for a limb replacement as required which has been close to once a year.  However, due to her growth this year it has needed to be twice and we expect that level for future years (click here) and (here) and (here).

We have videos for the progress we have made with Aleeza which we display below:

Aleeza injured and suffers complications from poor operational practices at Government Hospital Quetta:

At the age of 4 Aleeza shows no signs of being hampered by her disability as she dances confidently at a wedding:

In April 2021, Aleeza was admitted to “Excellence English Medium School”  nearby her current home and she is learning at their pre-school playgroup. Her father Ashiq Masih (52 yrs), said:

“Aleeza loves attending her classes and is very active.

“She has lots of friends and her teachers have confirmed she is a very active participants in all her sessions.

“My daughter is exhibiting good health and mental strength.

“Her prosthetic limb has given her full mobility for us it has been comforting after what we all went  through.”

Mother Shamima Bibi (50 yrs), said:

“I am thankful to BACA for supporting us and many others like us.

“It is with the help of BACA that we have been able to raise Aleeza just like any other child of her age.

“Aleeza is confident among her peers and we realise this would not be possible without the support of BACA’s donors – we thank you profusely.”

Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee for British Asian Christian Association, said:

“It is a miracle that Aleeza is alive today.

“When she was diagnosed with gangrene she was given only days to live.

“A rapid response from our donors allowed us to step in and save her life with God’s grace.

“We have continually supported her family with medical costs, eager to see her live as full a life as possible.

“Every time we speak with her, her passion for life gives us a boost - God has really blessed her.

“Her confidence has inspired us so much we could not have wished for better results – every penny spent on her has been worth it.

“Better still, Aleeza is faithful and believes in Christ she values highly the love he has shown towards her.”

The family have released this video hoping that donors will come forward to support the cost of the new prosthetic limb for Aleeza.
