HYDERABAD: (By Abbas Kassar) Leaders of Women Action Forum has announced to take out women equality march on March 8, this year in Hyderabad. Last year WAF march was held in Sukkur.

Addressing news conference at press club here leaders of WAF Professor Amar Sindhu and Alia Buxul Thalho distributed invitation to media for coverage of their March 8,2021 rally. They were accompanied with Haseen Musrat Shah, Gulbadan Javed Mirza, Dr. Bakhtawar Jam, Marvi Latifi and others.

They took exception to ever increasing incidents of sexual abuse in society adding that such incidents were culmination of parenthood and Wadera Shahi (feudalism).

They said the situation has further worsened with advent of coronavirus in country since more than a year due to which much more evils have taken place. They said solution of such morally cruel and unpleasant incident does not lie in punishment but to reach its main causes.

They said in Zainab rape case accused was hanged but despite it such incidents have not ceased to exist.

They made it clear that until women were not given freedom on basis equal to men our society was difficult to convert from worst to better. They counted heads of their demands as under:

elimination of parenthood system presently based on discrimination against women; end of all kinds of pressures of  abuses including rape, sexual harassment and domestic violence; participation of women on equal basis in economic development; elimination of discriminative practices and traditions; legal protection of women’s social, economic, cultural and civil rights and participation of rural women in educational and employment arrangements.
