HRFP’s legal action freed Samreen Masih from unlawful detention of police

Faisalabad: Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) condemned the false accusation of theft on Samreen Masih aged 27 a Christian girl has freed from unlawful detention of police by immediate legal actions . HRFP taking further steps of assistance & actions against harassments she facing with family.

On 01st January 2021, First Information Report (FIR) has registered at local police station against Samreen in response of her employer Abdullah’s application dated 12th December 2020 stating that she with her father Amjad Masih and brother Fahad Masih steals their passports, cheques, prize bonds and cash from their cupboards while their employer ignored other employees of same house and only targeted Samreen with her father Amjad Masih and brother Fahad Masih who having even no concerns with employer’s home at all.

Police raids the house of Samreen and family members and found nothing but she arrested on 25th January 2021. In men’s police station she was tortured but clearly stated to not be accepted what police and her employer demands. Samreen missed from police station after a couple of days when her family visited to meet in arrest.

Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) immediate inventions and arranging a bailiff the court orders made her to be free from detention. In bailiff petition her brother Fahad Masih reasoned that the allegation on Samreen are false just for blackmailing since she asked to employer about ending job due to issues she faced. Samreen and family are still under threats, Fahad got the pre arrest bail on 31st January 2021 when his father Amjad Masih was also arrested on 28th January 2021. The legal proceedings are continuing until the case disposed-off and justice may grant to Samreen and family.

Naveed Walter President of Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) said that the violations with domestic workers become multiple when they belong to religious minority because their minority religion made them more vulnerable and it has been seen in various cases particularly when the minority girls either student or at work place they victimized specifically in abductions, forced conversions and forced marriages and other issues based on their religion & beliefs the individuals & families face harassments & blackmailing as Samreen Masih experiencing, he added
